After all, a little less than a year ago, Samantha first filed a defamation lawsuit against her estranged half-sis. Now, a judge has signed off on the request, and Meghan and Harry\u00a0<i>will<\/i> be deposed. However \u2014 it\u2019s actually kind of complicated!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Is Princess Catherine Just Copying Meghan At This Point?!<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>According to a <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11723917\/Meghan-Harry-deposed-Samantha-Markle-lawsuit-judge-rules.html\">DailyMail.com<\/a><\/em>\u00a0report published on Tuesday, a judge has refused Meghan\u2019s request to prevent Samantha\u2019s lawyers from deposing her and Harry over the Oprah interview. The outlet reports Judge <strong>Charlene Edwards Honeywell<\/strong> handed down a ruling ordering Meghan and Harry to sit for depositions \u201cwithin the next few months.\u201d So it would <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear Samantha has won this round of the legal battle. Soon, she\u2019ll get to have her lawyers grill the famous couple over allegedly false statements they made to Oprah about Markle\u2019s half-sis and family history.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63e2fed920a32-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"highlight\">But!!!<\/p>\n<p>The outlet <em>also<\/em> reports Judge Honeywell took a \u201cpreliminary peek\u201d at the case and warned the whole thing may be \u201cripe for dismissal\u201d before the depositions can even get scheduled. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> org, the judge asserted Meghan\u2019s request to dismiss the case altogether may actually come to fruition in time, as there \u201cmay be grounds to throw [Samantha\u2019s case] out\u201d completely. That would be a real curveball!<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Samantha\u2019s lawyers have been trying to get Meghan to respond to more than three dozen questions first filed months ago at a federal courthouse in Florida. However, Meghan\u2019s legal team has balked at the ask. But she has not yet stopped Samantha\u2019s discovery push, either. In that aforementioned \u201cpreliminary peek,\u201d Judge Honeywell wrote this passage in legalese, with the key part bolded out by us for emphasis:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cDefendant Markle does not show that unusual circumstances justify the requested stay, or that prejudice or an undue burden will result if the Court does not impose a stay.\u00a0Although a preliminary peek at the motion to dismiss suggests that <strong>some of the claims against her may be ripe for dismissal, the review does not reveal, at this time, a clear indication that the Court will dismiss the action in its entirety<\/strong>.\u00a0Thus, defendant Markle does not satisfy the high standard required to stay discovery pending the resolution of a dispositive motion.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63e2fed920a3c-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For now, Judge Honeywell\u2019s ruling means Meghan and Harry must sit for this newly-ordered deposition \u201cwhich will have to take place before July,\u201d according to the news outlet. That is, \u201cif the case moves ahead\u201d that far. Lots of \u201cifs\u201d here. Thus, things are still very much up in the air. Samantha has argued in her prior court filings that Meghan\u2019s supposedly false claims levied in such a public setting subjected the half-sis to \u201chumiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale.\u201d Of course, let\u2019s be honest: it\u2019s not like Samantha hasn\u2019t lobbed plenty of her own public-forum vollies at Meghan, too.
