Rick Scott (R-Fla.) on Wednesday defended his proposal to sunset all federal legislation after five years and slammed President Biden as \u201cconfused\u201d in response to Biden\u2019s claim at the State of the Union address that some Republicans want to sunset <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> Security and Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my plan, I suggested the following: All federal legislation sunsets in five years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again,\u201d Scott said in a statement following Biden\u2019s address to a joint session of Congress. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Scott last year rankled Republicans when he rolled out a 12-point policy agenda that included the sunset proposal, which Democrats promptly began using as ammunition in the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is clearly and obviously an idea aimed at dealing with all the crazy new laws our Congress has been passing of late,\u201d Scott added, denying Biden\u2019s claim Tuesday evening that Republicans want to end Social Security and Medicare. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden said that \u201cinstead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset,\u201d eliciting loud boos from GOP lawmakers in the chamber. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some House Republicans have floated the idea of reforms to entitlement programs as part of debt ceiling negotiations, though Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and others insist cuts aren\u2019t on the table.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking over the raucous response, the president insisted, \u201cAnybody who doubts it, contact my office, I\u2019ll give you a copy \u2014 I\u2019ll give you a copy of the proposal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is being proposed by individuals. I\u2019m politely not naming them, but it\u2019s being proposed by some of you,\u201d Biden said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>That barb infuriated Scott, the former chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, who called the claim \u201ca lie\u201d and \u201ca dishonest move \u2026 from a very confused president.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not be intimidated by Joe Biden twisting my words,\u201d he declared and pushed back by arguing that Democrats effectively cut Medicare when they gave the federal government power to negotiate lower pre<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion drug prices in the Inflation Reduction Act.<\/p>\n<p>He says that will lead to less money going to pharmaceutical companies to develop new drugs and therapies.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Scott argues that his plan anticipates that Congress would quickly renew popular programs such as Medicare and Social Security \u2014 as well as defense programs \u2014 before they have a chance to sunset. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes he think I also intend to get rid of the U.S. Navy? Or the Border Patrol? Or air traffic control, maybe? This is the fake, gotcha BS that people hate about Washington.
