While most people spend months and months (if not years) planning their nuptials, it turns out Salma had no idea she was getting married that day. In fact, her family had forced her to walk down the aisle at the time!<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>Glamour<\/em> published on Wednesday, the <em>Grown Ups<\/em> star revealed the two only had a courthouse wedding because her family basically staged an \u201cintervention\u201d and had \u201cdragged\u201d her there. OMG?! She explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even know I was getting married that day. It was like an intervention. I don\u2019t think I ever told this story. No, they just took me to the court. She added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI had a phobia of the marriage thing\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63e50bf2ce065-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Before the couple got married, Salma had rejected two other proposals from Fran\u00e7ois, with whom she shared a 15-year-old daughter,<strong> Valentina Paloma<\/strong>. One of her biggest fears about the pair being married was that things would change between them. She told <em>Glamour<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was nervous\u2026 I had said yes to the marriage, but I just wouldn\u2019t actually show up on the day or do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Clearly, her family wasn\u2019t going to let her skip out on a wedding! I don\u2019t feel any different.\u2019 And then a little bit later I said, \u2018Okay, this is kind of exciting.\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Can we have a party now?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She and the 60-year-old businessman ended up getting married again in front of their loved ones in April 2009 \u2013 this time planned. Despite their original tumultuous wedding day, things between Salma and Fran\u00e7ois are still going strong after 14 years. When asked how she keeps her marriage from getting boring, she responded:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cBoredom is underestimated. I didn\u2019t understand this for a long time. Also it helps that we met each other later in our lives. It\u2019s okay just to do nothing and be together; sometimes sharing a space and doing your own thing in silence, with connectivity and thoughtfulness\u2014\u2019Can I bring you a cup of tea?\u2019\u2014is enough.
