Honorees and presenters included <em>The Way of Water <\/em>producer Jon Landau and the film\u2019s Oscar-nominated VFX supervisors, Eric Saindon from W\u0113t\u0101 FX and Richie Baneham from Lightstorm; <em>Elvis <\/em>star Austin Butler; <em>Pinocchio<\/em>\u2018s Guillermo del Toro; <em>Babylon<\/em>\u2018s Damien Chazelle; and <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>\u2018s Jerry Bruckheimer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Avatar: The Way of Water<\/em> won the award for best live-action feature. Accepting with Saindon and Baneham, Landau saluted the technical community and urged them to continue to \u201cinnovate technologies that allow filmmakers to tell stories that could not otherwise be told.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    For <em>The Way of Water<\/em>\u2018s environmental message about the importance of protecting the oceans, Landau and James Cameron additionally accepted EARTHDAY.ORG\u2019s Voices For The Earth Award. \u201cAs filmmakers, we have had a responsibility to tell stories that make a difference and make us look at our world differently \u2026 to put stories on the screen that don\u2019t preach but are provocative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In a recorded message from New Zealand, Cameron said \u201cwe tried to have the greenest set possible when we were making the movie.\u201d He cited the use of solar power and vegan catering, while encouraging other filmmakers and productions to \u201clean in and do what they can for Mother Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Elvis won Lumiere awards for best musical film and best scene (Elvis\u2019 first Las Vegas performance). Additionally, Luhrmann accepted the Harold Lloyd Award, presented by Austin Butler and Suzanne Lloyd, chairman of Harold Lloyd Entertainment. Butler noted that with Elvis, Luhrmann \u201csets out to create a cultural event [and] a sensory experience\u201d with music, bold visuals and strong storytelling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cWho would have thought Harold Lloyd invented the wiggle,\u201d Luhrmann quipped, with a nod to Lloyd\u2019s classic <em>Safety Last<\/em>. He talked about the elements that came together for <em>Elvis<\/em>, from Butler\u2019s performance to innovation from his team, including Oscar-nominated DP Mandy Walker. \u201cTechnical innovation allows us to amplify the stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Del Toro was on hand to collect the best animated feature award for his stop-motion <em>Pinocchio<\/em>. \u201cWe utilize <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> and tools, but we use them as artists,\u201d he emphasized, describing his hand-made <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to his movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Bruckheimer picked up a pair of awards for<em> Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> (best non-musical theatrical scene for the final mission sequence and best original song for Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cHold My Hand\u201d). In his speech, he recognized the film\u2019s cast and crew, including Tom Cruise, Joe Kosinski and DP Claudio Miranda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Babylon <\/em>actor PJ Byrne and Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene Kelly\u2019s widow and biographer, presented the Gene Kelly Vision Award to Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle. \u201cIt\u2019s this endlessly inspiring source for me,\u201d the director said of Kelly\u2019s work, and with a nod to <em>Babylon<\/em>, cited particularly <em>Singin\u2019 in the Rain<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    During the ceremony, <em>The Way of Water<\/em>\u2018s lead VFX studio Weta FX was honored with the Society\u2019s Sir Charles Wheatstone Award, recognizing work from Peter Jackson\u2019s <em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em> to its latest innovations in <em>The Way of Water<\/em>. This year, the studio also contributed to VFX Oscar noms <em>Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em> and <em>The Batman<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Oscar-nominated sound editor and designer Will Files accepted a pair of awards on behalf of the teams on <em>The Batman<\/em> (best theatrical sound) and <em>Stranger Things<\/em> (best episodic sound).
