It\u2019s time to lean into the mythical.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are facing a curse trifecta. While the AFC champions are an odds-breaking team, it never hurts to know the lore at play.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MVP_Super_Bowl_loss_streak\"><\/span><strong>MVP Super Bowl loss streak<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;Mahomes Magic&#8221; earned the 27-year-old his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl-mvp-chiefs-qb-patrick-mahomes-adds-to-legacy-wins-his-2nd-mvp-award-034513400.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:second MVP award;cpos:2;pos:1;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp yahoo-link\">second MVP award<\/a> Thursday night. A complete package at quarterback, Mahomes is now tasked with besting a streak that has gone unbroken since 1999. Quarterback Kurt Warner of the St. Louis Rams was the last player to win regular-season MVP and the title in the same season.<\/p>\n<p>Not including Mahomes, nine MVPs since Warner have made the Super Bowl. The impressive roster: Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:6;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl\/players\/7200\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Aaron Rodgers;cpos:6;pos:1\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Aaron Rodgers<\/a>. Only Montana, Manning and Brady have multiple regular-season MVPs and also multiple Super Bowl rings as starting quarterbacks.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Drake_curse\"><\/span><strong>The Drake curse<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Canadian r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Drake revealed he\u2019s betting $700,000 on the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in addition to other parlays totaling nearly $1 million Friday. \u201cMy psychotic bets for Sunday are in @Stake\u201d, said Drake in his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CodU1gLNf_0\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" data-ylk=\"slk:Instagram caption;cpos:7;pos:1\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Instagram caption<\/a>. \u201cPls do not analyze the logic behind these bets. There is none.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For a while, the five-time Grammy award winning artist\u2019s sports pick meant a sure defeat. Some fans believe that all Drake has to do is wear a team\u2019s shirt, voice support or pose for a photo to ensure a loss.<\/p>\n<p>Heralding former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel and ex-UFC champ Conor McGregor when they were in their primes, fans watched both hit career lows shortly after Drake&#8217;s public support. He also went in for Serena Williams during 2015 U.S. Open finals and the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. He wasn\u2019t able to cash in on those bets either. A.S. Roma, an Italian soccer club, joked on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> in 2019 that its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:8;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sports\/italian-soccer-club-ban-drake-curse\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:players were banned from taking photos with the star.;cpos:8;pos:1\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">players were banned from taking photos with the star. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Recently, he lost $850K with a bet on the San Francisco 49ers over the Eagles in the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:9;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl-2023-playoffs-nfc-championship-game-today-scores-schedule-injuries-inactives-live-blog-eagles-49ers-190020687.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:NFC championship.;cpos:9;pos:1;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp yahoo-link\">NFC championship. <\/a>Had he won that, it would have netted him $1.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>That aside, Drake seems to have his best track record with the NFL. He went all in on the Los Angeles Rams\u2019 Super Bowl win last year with three bets worth around $1.26 million and it paid off. Shifting his attention to Kansas City this year, he also bet over $1 million on the<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:10;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl-2023-playoffs-afc-championship-game-today-scores-schedule-injuries-inactives-live-blog-chiefs-bengals-223019512.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Chiefs winning the AFC championship;cpos:10;pos:1;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp yahoo-link\"> Chiefs winning the AFC championship <\/a>last month and the team was able to pull it out despite Mahomes\u2019 high ankle sprain.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Philadelphia_and_the_Rocky_Balboa_statue\"><\/span><strong>Philadelphia and the Rocky Balboa statue<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce already warned Kansas City fans not to interfere with the legend of the Rocky Balboa statue. &#8220;Chiefs, do not touch the f***ing Rocky memorial!&#8221; Travis Kelce <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:11;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IgYLxeY_r_o&amp;feature=youtu.be\" data-ylk=\"slk:said;cpos:11;pos:1\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">said<\/a> on his &#8220;New Heights&#8221; podcast with brother and Eagles center Jason Kelce. &#8220;Do not do that, and definitely don&#8217;t put a No. 87 on it!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They did not listen.<\/p>\n<p>For years, opposing fans\u2019 team merchandise being placed on the figure has not ended well. The phenomenon was most recently displayed during last month&#8217;s NFC championship. The legend prevailed twice in 2018 when the Eagles won the NFC championship and Super Bowl LII after Vikings and Patriots attempted to test the Balboa theory.
