James Comer (R-Ky.) criticized Democrats for trying to \u201cscare\u201d seniors by suggesting that Republicans want to make cuts to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> Security and Medicare, a move that Comer said is not on the table when it comes to GOP plans for spending cuts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointing that the president and Chuck Schumer would continue to try to scare seniors,\u201d Comer said on ABC\u2019s \u201cThis Week\u201d on Sunday. \u201cThese are important programs to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Possible cuts to programs like Social Security and Medicare have bubbled to the surface as Republicans and Democrats face off over the debt limit. Lawmakers have until sometime in June to increase the country\u2019s borrowing limit, but Republicans have insisted that the Biden administration agree to curtail spending before cutting a deal on the debt ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, however, have been unwilling to budge on their demand for passing the debt ceiling increase without a guarantee on spending cuts. Instead, President Biden and Democrats have slammed Republicans for suggesting cuts to Social Security and Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>GOP leadership has resoundingly rejected the idea, though. As Democrats have hammered Republicans on the issue of Social Security and Medicare, GOP lawmakers have yet to come forward with a plan for what spending cuts they want.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re gonna come forward with a plan,\u201d Comer said without offering details. \u201cWe\u2019re still debating that plan. We\u2019re having robust debate amongst our conference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But some prominent Republicans have suggested or floated the idea of making cuts to the programs in the recent past.<\/p>\n<p>Comer committed to not touching Social Security or Medicare in the GOP plan to cut spending.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not gonna cut Social Security or Medicare,\u201d Comer said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been very clear about that \u2026 if anything, we need to sure those programs up.
