The authority stated that all crypto exchange providers \u2014 including crypto ATM operators \u2014 must be registered with the FCA and comply with the U.K. money laundering regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnregistered crypto ATMs operating in the U.K. are doing so illegally,\u201d FCA\u2019s executive director of enforcement Mark Steward said, adding that the regulator will continue to disrupt unregistered crypto businesses in the country. The exec also noted that crypto products are \u201ccurrently unregulated and high-risk,\u201d warning investors to be prepared to lose all their money with crypto.<\/p>\n<p>According to police detective sergeant Lindsey Brants, local enforcement officers have issued several warning letters to crypto ATM operators, requesting cease and desist using the machines. \u201cAny breach of regulations would result in an investigation under money-laundering regulations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>UK\u2019s FCA hints at why it\u2019s only given 15% of crypto firms the regulatory nod<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The FCA\u2019s action against crypto ATMs would <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently affect a notable number of ATM operators as there are at least 28 locations <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/coinatmradar.com\/countries\/\">providing<\/a> Bitcoin (BTC) ATMs in the United Kingdom, according to data from Coin ATM Radar. More than 50% of those crypto ATM locations are situated in London, with additional locations near Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham, the data shows.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-02\/601fcdcf-bac8-479e-b1c5-39983ee3def1.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Bitcoin ATMs in the United Kingdom. In March 2022, the same authority issued a similar statement\u00a0on termination of Bitcoin ATMs in the country, calling ATM operators to \u201cshut down or face further action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, FCA has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/search?predefined=CA\">issued<\/a> registration to a total of 41 crypto firms in the United Kingdom, including platforms like Gemini, Zodia Custody, Bitpanda, Revolut and others.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
