16 in Amsterdam<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs quantum computers grow, we will eventually be constrained by the size of the microchip, which limits the number of quantum bits such a chip can accommodate,\u201d Winfried Hensinger, Professor of Quantum Technologies at the University of Sussex and Chief Scientist and co-founder at Universal Quantum <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/news\/article\/59995-sussex-scientists-make-breakthrough-in-developing-quantum-computers-that-can-solve-big-challenges-of-our-time\">explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As a solution, the research team developed a novel technique, named \u201cUQ Connect.\u201d This method enabled the researchers to use electric field links that allow qubits to move from one quantum computing microchip module to another with record-breaking speed and accuracy. Specifically, the researchers were successful in<span> transporting 2,424 ion qubits per second with a 99.999993% success rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew a modular <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach was key to make quantum computers powerful enough to solve step-changing industry problems. In demonstrating that we can connect two quantum computing chips \u2014 a bit like a jigsaw puzzle \u2014 and, crucially, that it works so well, we unlock the potential to scale up by connecting hundreds, or even thousands of quantum computing microchips,\u201d Hensinger added.<\/p>\n<p>Universal Quantum, which was recently named one of the<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iop.org\/about\/awards\/2022-iop-award-winners#gref\"> 2022 Institute of Physics winners<\/a>\u00a0in the Business Startup category, has now been awarded \u20ac67 million from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to build two quantum computers that will deploy the new <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DLR contract was likely one of the largest government quantum computing contracts ever handed out to a single company. This is a huge validation of our technology.
