During that time, the Polygon zkEVM system has hit several milestones noted by the team.<\/p>\n<p>These include the deployment of more than 5,000 smart contracts, the generation of over 75,000 zk-proofs, more than 84,000 wallets and two public third-party audits.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-02\/5e22b212-ef11-4057-8016-cfb16cb5c62f.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A graphic detailing the development so far leading up to the launch. Source: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/beta.polygon.technology\/blog\/to-ethereum-with-love-announcing-polygon-zkevm-mainnet-beta-on-march-27th\">Polygon<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The team noted that security is the highest priority and it&#8217;s the reason \u201cwhy Polygon zkEVM has been run through a gauntlet of tests and audits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The technology uses zero-knowledge proofs \u2014 cryptographic confirmations that, in the context of scaling, enable platforms to validate mass amounts of transaction data before bundling and confirming them on Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>Polygon is not the only team working on a zkEVM solution. Scaling provider zkSync is developing similar EVM technology with its zkPorter \u2014 which puts essential transaction data off-chain.<\/p>\n<p>Scroll, another scaling solutions provider, is also building a zkEVM solution in collaboration with the Privacy and Scaling Explorations group, which is part of the Ethereum Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethereum Foundation is also funding a project called <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>lied ZKP which aims to develop an EVM-compatible zk-rollup.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Polygon tests zero-knowledge rollups, mainnet integration inbound<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team explained the significance of the technology, stating that true EVM-equivalence means Ethereum can be scaled \u201cwithout resorting to half-measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe best way to scale Ethereum is to preserve the existing Ethereum ecosystem: code, tooling, and infrastructure needs to just work. And that\u2019s what Polygon zkEVM is aiming to achieve.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The scaling tech also enables significant transaction cost savings. Proof costs for a large batch of hundreds of transactions are down to about $0.06 and less than $0.001 for a simple transfer, the team added.<\/p>\n<p>Matter Labs, the firm behind Polygon, raised $50 million in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a> B round led by Andreessen Horowitz to build EVM-compatible zk-rollups in November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Polygon\u2019s native token, MATIC, has reacted positively to the announcement with a 5.3% gain over the past 12 hours or so.
