by a crypto lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>A Feb. 15 Bloomberg <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-02-15\/ftx-investor-suit-targets-sequoia-capital-thoma-bravo-paradigm\">report<\/a> revealed a class-action suit filed Feb. 14 by FTX investors against venture capital firm Sequoia Capital and private equity firms Thoma Bravo and Paradigm.<\/p>\n<p>The firms were accused by the investors of touting \u201ctheir own investments\u201d of hundreds of millions of dollars in FTX.<\/p>\n<p>It was alleged the firms were involved in a promotional marketing campaign in 2021 which the investors alleged added an \u201cair of legitimacy\u201d to the disgraced crypto exchange.<\/p>\n<p>The three firms were all investors in FTX\u2019s $900 million <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a> B round in July 2021, the largest raise in crypto history, in which various partners of the firms spoke highly of former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/ftx-trading-ltd-closes-900m-series-b-round-largest-raise-in-crypto-exchange-history-847881913.html\">statement <\/a>following the funding announcement in July 2021, Paradigm\u2019s co-founder Matt Huang called Bankman-Fried a \u201cspecial\u201d founder who is \u201cstunningly ambitious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Cointelegraph, crypto lawyer Liam Hennessy, partner at Australian law firm Gadens, stated that it is a \u201ctricky case,\u201d and he questions \u201cwhat obligation Sequoia and others\u201d have to \u201ccompletely separate investors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that despite the fact Sequoia\u2019s due diligence wasn\u2019t great, it doesn\u2019t make it \u201cliable to others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hennessy believed it could be a case of \u201cbuyer beware\u201d \u2013 as there is no suggestion that Sequoia wasn\u2019t \u201cplaying within the regulatory rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cointelegraph contacted Sequoia Capital, Thoma Bravo and Paradigm for comment but did not receive an im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te response.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Charity tied to former FTX exec made $150M from insider deal on FTT tokens: Report<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A separate Feb. 15 Bloomberg <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-02-15\/bankman-fried-ellison-among-those-subpoenaed-in-ftx-bankruptcy?srnd=infotech\">report<\/a> revealed that in the same court filing Sam Bankman-Fried and his father, along with former FTX and Alameda Research executives Caroline Ellison, Nishad Singh and Gary Wang were all issued with a subpoena, an order for a person to attend court, to provide further evidence.<\/p>\n<p>It was stated that Joseph Bankman, Ellison, Wang, and Singh are due to attend court on Feb. 16 while Sam Bankman-Fried is expected to attend on Feb. 17.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"crypto_biz\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
