Now, they have another difficult update to share.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Bruce\u2019s wife <strong>Emma Heming<\/strong>, ex-wife <strong>Demi Moore<\/strong>, and children <strong>Rumer<\/strong>, 34, <strong>Scout<\/strong>, 31, <strong>Tallulah<\/strong>, 29, <strong>Mabel<\/strong>, 10, and <strong>Evelyn<\/strong>, 8, released a joint statement announcing their patriarch has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Their message began:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs a family, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the outpouring of love and compassion for Bruce over the past ten months. Your generosity of spirit has been overwhelming, and we are tremendously grateful for it. For your kindness, and because we know you love Bruce as much as we do, we wanted to give you an update.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63eea0a074e84-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Related: Former <em>NYPD<\/em> <em>Blue<\/em> Child Star Austin Majors Found Dead At Homeless Shelter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Things have gotten more challenging since the family first opened up about the <em>Die Hard<\/em> star\u2019s health status, and they are now ready to get candid, they revealed:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSince we announced Bruce\u2019s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce\u2019s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63eea0a074e89-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It always helps to have answers, but we cannot imagine how difficult this <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> must be for them all\u2026<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t know, FTD affects the lobes of the brain behind the forehead, which deal with behavior, problem-solving, planning, and emotions. The disease can cause a person to experience personality changes, obsessive behavior, and difficulty speaking. There is also no cure and very little research on the condition, something the family hopes will change in the<em> Pulp Fiction<\/em> alum\u2019s honor:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce\u2019s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63eea0a074e8d-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. It can entirely change a person\u2019s personality. For example, someone may become tactless and uninterested in others as well as develop repeated and compulsive movements, like repeating phrases or getting obsessive about things. It may result in slow speech, grammatical errors, and asking about the meaning of familiar words, among other challenges.<\/p>\n<p>This health update comes after the Willis family first announced Bruce\u2019s diagnosis with aphasia last year.
