rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kamalnw\/?hl=en\">Kamal.<\/a> is the kind of versatile artist equally at home leaning into his pop, R&amp;B, or rap influences. Breakout song <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UOxmtBaIovw\">\u201chomebody\u201d<\/a> arrived during the early lockdown days of the pandemic, but the then-teen didn\u2019t simply have good timing. He followed it up with the sweet and tender <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NKrXvYpuBZs\">\u201cBlue\u201d<\/a> as well as the more upbeat, cocksure <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_r4Jpk9QRaI\">\u201cabout the party.\u201d<\/a> Next up came a big look when Dave recruited him for his <i>We\u2019re All Alone In This Together<\/i> track \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MwGWwCkScT4&amp;ab_channel=Dave-Topic\">Mercury<\/a>.\u201d Today (February 16), he moves a step closer to the March 17 release of his debut mixtape, <i>so here you are, drowning<\/i>, by sharing its third single, \u201cfree flow.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            The track comes with a video in which Kamal. and his significant other, in a blur of young love, tattoo one another with his lyrics. It\u2019s a sugar-sweet portrait of a couple rushing head first into their emotions, feeling unmoored from anything that could ever weigh them down. Kamal.\u2019s storytelling shines throughout the track, his soft lyrical touch complimenting his sweet vocals. I was writing quite candidly about how I felt at the time, in the intensity of a blossoming relationship with all of its hopes and fears.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            <b>In the video we see you getting a DIY stick \u2019n\u2019 poke tattoo. Is that something you have done outside of a video setting? If so, what did you\/would you get tatted?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>            I\u2019m yet to get a stick \u2019n\u2019 poke tattoo, but if I do, it will probably be something related to the mixtape, almost as a celebration.  I\u2019ve got a few friends who can do them, so maybe i\u2019ll ask.<\/p>\n<p>            <b>The song will <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear on your new mixtape, <i>so here you are, drowning<\/i>. What is the significance of that title? <\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            It\u2019s a quote from Caleb Azumah Nelson\u2019s novel <i>Open Water<\/i> which resonated with me.  I loved the book and thought there were parallels to the mixtape\u2019s themes \u2014 both stories on love in London, with the metaphor of water present.<\/p>\n<p>            <b>When you think of \u201cstaying afloat,\u201d what are you thinking of? <\/b><\/p>\n<p>            It\u2019s easy to drown in your thoughts or your trauma, both in and out of relationships. Staying afloat for me is keeping your head above those currents, maintaining a view of the horizon. Sometimes this comes hand in hand with love, and you find yourself keeping each other from being submerged, treading water co-dependently. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            <b>As an artist who first emerged during the pandemic period, how are you finding the shift back to something more like normal?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>            I\u2019m adjusting in the same way the rest of the world is, finding my voice amongst the outside again.  I\u2019m definitely enjoying being able to see evidence of my music in the flesh; meeting supporters and playing live has been the most rewarding change. Apart from that, I\u2019m embracing the richness of life, and how that influences and nourishes my writing.<\/p>\n<p>            <b>What are you ambitions for 2023? <\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            I\u2019m focused on the delivery of the mixtape and making sure I do it right so that it resonates as it should. I\u2019m planning another headline show and have some festival shows coming up in Thailand and Korea, which I\u2019m really excited for.
