part of the company\u2019s blockbuster lawsuit against Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> and its parent company contains never-before-revealed vignettes from inside the network in the days that followed the 2020 election.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Text messages, e-mails and testimony contained in the filing show the outlet\u2019s top executives and hosts casting doubt on former President Trump\u2019s false claims of a stolen election, and worrying about how fact-checking those assertions on the air might be received by the conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> outlet\u2019s massive audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Dominion is suing Fox for defamation, seeking $1.6 billion in damages, alleging the network knowingly aired false information about its software based on competitive and political pressure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fox has argued in legal filings and public statements it was simply covering Trump\u2019s allegations about voter fraud as any news organization would, and is accusing Dominion\u2019s lawyers of \u201ccherry picking quotes\u201d from its employees in this week\u2019s filing to build a stronger case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a lot of noise and confusion generated by Dominion and their opportunistic private equity owners, but the core of this case remains about freedom of the press and freedom of speech, which are fundamental rights afforded by the Constitution and protected by New York Times v. Sullivan,\u201d the network said in a statement this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are the most explosive revelations contained in Dominion\u2019s filing:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Leading_hosts_called_foul_on_%E2%80%98insane_Powell_Giuliani_claims\"><\/span><strong>Leading hosts called foul on \u2018insane\u2019 Powell, Giuliani claims<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The filing includes a number of text messages and emails between Fox\u2019s top talent showing them insulting pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, who made many of the on-air claims at the center of the suit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It\u2019s insane,\u201d Tucker Carlson wrote to fellow prime-time host Laura Ingraham on Nov. 18, according to the filing.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cSidney is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy,\u201d Ingraham purportedly responded, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently referring to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.<\/p>\n<p>Both Powell and Giuliani publicly promoted unfounded claims that Dominion shifted vote counts to steal the election from Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson at one point allegedly confronted Powell directly about her claims, saying, \u201cYou keep telling our viewers that millions of votes were changed by the software. I hope you will prove that very soon. You\u2019ve convinced them that Trump will win. If you don\u2019t have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it\u2019s a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Carlson_and_Hannity_talked_about_getting_Fox_reporters_fired_for_fact_checking_Trump\"><\/span><strong>Carlson and Hannity talked about getting Fox reporters fired for fact checking Trump\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The filing alleges Carlson and Sean Hannity floated the idea of pressuring network leaders to fire Fox White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich after she fact-checked a tweet from Trump promoting some of the Dominion claims.<\/p>\n<p>The filing says Carlson told Hannity, \u201cPlease get her fired. Seriously\u2026.What the fuck? I\u2019m actually shocked\u2026It needs to stop immediately, like tonight. It\u2019s measurably hurting the company. The stock price is down. Not a joke.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hannity then told Carlson, \u201cI\u2019m 3 strikes. Wallace shit debate[.] Election night a disaster[.] Now this BS? Nope. Not gonna fly. Did I mention Cavuto?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The two hosts weren\u2019t the only ones taking issue with reporters\u2019 fact checking, Dominion alleges.<\/p>\n<p>After White House correspondent Kristin Fisher fact-checked claims that Powell and Giuliani made at a Nov. 19, 2020, press conference, Dominion claims that Fox\u2019s executives \u201cwere not pleased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Washington Bureau Chief Bryan Boughton allegedly called Fisher and told her that she needed to do a better job of \u201crespecting our audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fox_leadership_worried_about_getting_flanked_to_the_right\"><\/span><strong>Fox leadership worried about getting flanked to the right\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As Trump grew increasingly critical of Fox in the weeks leading up to and after the election, Dominion alleges that some at the network became concerned about the brief ascendance of Newsmax, a smaller conservative channel that aired many of Trump\u2019s false election fraud claims.<\/p>\n<p>Dominion alleges Carlson texted a producer on his weeknight primetime show: \u201cDo the executives understand how much credibility and trust we\u2019ve lost with our audience? We\u2019re playing with fire, for real\u2026.an alternative like newsmax could be devastating to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an exchange among executives one week after the election, Lauren Petterson, the president of Fox Business Network, purportedly wrote of Newsmax, \u201cthey definitely have a strategy across all shows to try to target and steal our viewers.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Dominion further alleged that Jay Wallace, the president of Fox News Channel, at one point wrote, \u201cThe Newsmax surge is a bit troubling\u2014truly is an alternative universe when you watch, but it can\u2019t be ignored.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Murdoch_dismissed_Trumps_election_claims\"><\/span><strong>Murdoch dismissed Trump\u2019s election claims<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When Rupert Murdoch watched Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell make false claims of electoral fraud on November 19, he told Suzanne Scott: \u201cTerrible stuff damaging everybody, I fear,\u201d according to the filing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On January 5, a day before the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, Murdoch wrote to Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott saying \u201cIt\u2019s been suggested our prime time three should independently or together say something like \u2018the election is over and Joe Biden won,\u2019\u201d and that such a statement \u201cwould go a long way to stop the Trump myth that the election stolen.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Since the 2020 election, Murdoch has publicly distanced himself from Trump and the network has grown increasingly critical of the former president in some of its programming, favoring other leading Republican candidates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Murdoch separately told Fox News leadership THAT Guiliani was to be taken \u201cwith a very large grain of salt,\u201d and bemoaned the fact the former New York City mayor was advising Trump in the post-election period, the filing shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fox_prepping_First_Amendment_defense_in_court_questions_Dominions_motives\"><\/span><strong>Fox prepping First Amendment defense in court, questions Dominion\u2019s motives<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Dominion\u2019s case against Fox\u2019s hinges on its ability to prove that the network acted with \u201cactual malice,\u201d or reckless disregard for the truth, a legal precedent that has been a high bar to clear for parties suing media companies and other publishers in recent years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fox has for months argued it was doing its journalistic duty covering the claims of electoral fraud coming from Trump and his team, and in a filing of its own this week said it \u201cfulfilled its commitment to inform fully and comment fairly,\u201d on Trump\u2019s claims.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome hosts viewed the president\u2019s claims skeptically; others viewed them hopefully,\u201d Fox\u2019s filing reads. \u201cAll recognized them as profoundly newsworthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox last summer hired\u00a0Dan Webb,\u00a0a veteran defense attorney and high-profile lawyer, as part of its legal team defending itself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the outlet said this week Dominion\u2019s filing \u201ctakes an extreme and unsupported view of defamation law and rests on an accounting of the facts that has no basis in the record.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company has separately argued Dominion has inflated its valuation in pursuit of the $1.6 billion in damages it is seeking from Fox Corp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDominion could not possibly suffer damages in that amount,\u201d Fox\u2019s filing reads. \u201cLet alone suffer such damages because of a single press outlet\u2019s coverage of a story that was reported by media throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
