He was 78 years old.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63f29ec64146f-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Former<em> Late Show with David Letterman<\/em> writer <strong>Bill Scheft<\/strong> confirmed the sad <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, telling<em> The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that the actor died at his home in Bozouls in southwest France early Sunday:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHe had lots of health issues, and his last words were, \u2018F**k you, motherf**ker.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>A cause of death for Richard has not been revealed at this time. As you may know, the star was known for playing the beloved Detective Munch across ten <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> for 23 years. The character first <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared in the 1993 <strong>NBC<\/strong> series<strong> Homicide: Life on the Street<\/strong> before moving on to notably<em> Law &amp; Order: Special Victims Unit<\/em> and appearing in <em>Law &amp; Order: Trial by Jury<\/em>, <em>30 Rock<\/em>, <em>The X-Files<\/em>,<em> Arrested Development<\/em>, <em>The Wire<\/em>, and <em>Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/em>. Richard began his career as a comedian, working as the warm-up act on<em> Saturday Night Live<\/em> between 1975 to 1980 and performing on the <em>National Lampoon Radio Hour.<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63f29ec641473-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Related: Kellie Pickler\u2019s Husband Celebrated Huge Career Mileston Before His Death<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the news of his death, several of his friends and former co-stars took to social media to pay tribute to him. <em>Law &amp; Order<\/em> creator and executive producer <strong>Dick Wolf<\/strong> said in a statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cRichard Belzer\u2019s detective John Munch is one of television\u2019s iconic characters. I first worked with Richard on the Law &amp; Order\/Homicide crossover and loved the character so much, I told Tom (Fontana) that I wanted to make him one of the original characters on SVU. The rest is history. Richard brought humor and joy into all our lives, was the consummate professional, and we will all miss him very much.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>His<em> Law &amp; Order: SVU<\/em> castmate <strong>Mariska Hargitay<\/strong> wrote on <strong>Instagram<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63f29ec641478-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cGoodbye my dear, dear friend. I love you so very much, now and forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Co-star <strong>Christopher Meloni<\/strong> also shared a picture of Mariska feeding Richard on set of their show and a photo of him kissing the actor\u2019s cheek.
