All you want to do is change out of your jeans and into loungewear. So should you toss that denim in the wash?<\/p>\n<p>Not so fast! When it comes to how often you clean jeans, the frequency might be less than you think.<\/p>\n<p>On average, you should be washing your jeans every nine to 10 wears according to Patric Richardson, host of\u00a0<em>The Laundry Guy\u00a0<\/em>on Discovery+. The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=432db143fab4826620fe7b8eb31c6901&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.today.com%2Fshop%2Fhow-often-should-you-wash-jeans-t258284&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\">expert told TODAY<\/a> that your jeans should have a bit of visible dirt and be a bit sweaty by this point. For example, darker denim that\u2019s washed too frequently will lose its color, and stretch denim\u2019s fibers will begin to break down, losing their shape.<\/p>\n<p>When it does come time to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realsimple.com\/beauty-fashion\/clothing-care\/how-often-to-wash-jeans\">do the laundry<\/a>, your jeans should be washed in warm water that\u2019ll help activate detergent, and it should be a short cycle so as not to tumble the pants too much, potentially causing damage to the fabric. When they\u2019re done, hang them out to dry.
