HomeKit refers to Apple\u2019s smart home framework, accessed on the consumer side using <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/home\/id1110145103?at=1010l392g&amp;ct=htg873252\">the Home app<\/a> for iPhone, iPad, and macOS. This can be an Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, HomePod or HomePod mini, or an iPad.<\/p>\n<p>HomePods automatically become hubs when set up. You can nominate your Apple TV under Settings &gt; AirPlay and HomeKit &gt; Room then add or select a room. For an iPad, head to Settings &gt; Home and enable \u201cUse this iPad as a Home Hub\u201d from the menu.<\/p>\n<p>You can add cameras as you\u2019d add any other accessory by launching the Home app then hitting the + \u201cplus\u201d button and selecting \u201cAdd Accessory\u201d and following the instructions.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_You_Should_Use_HomeKit_Secure_Video\"><\/span>Why You Should Use HomeKit Secure Video<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve set up single or multiple cameras, you can live stream them using the Home app on any device connected to your Apple ID. Detections include motion caused by subjects like people, animals, or cars. You can find-tune this under Home Settings in the Home app by tapping Cameras &amp; Doorbells followed by the camera you want to fine-tune. From here select Notifications and turn on Activity Notifications then choose criteria like time of day, when people are home or out, or when specific motion is detected (like people, packages, vehicles).<\/p>\n<p>You can also set up Activity Zones by tapping on a camera in the Home app followed by the Settings \u201ccog\u201d icon. Hit Select Activity Zones &gt; Add Zone and define the zone (you can hit the \u201cInvert Zone\u201d button to exclude the area you\u2019ve selected) then hit Done to confirm. Activity Zones tell your camera which zones are most important to monitor.<\/p>\n<p>You can allow others within your household to view and control HomeKit Secure Video cameras, as they can other connected devices.
