Seemingly tired of the same old story, members of the community expressed themselves on Twitter, with some even questioning Solana\u2019s (SOL) rank as a top cryptocurrency. <\/p>\n<p>Amid the network issues, nonfungible token (NFT) artist Crypto Tea raised a question on how the Solana blockchain made it to the top 10 list while having such performance issues. She tweeted: <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Solana is down for a co-ordinated restart<\/p>\n<p>A tech issue was throttling transactions and the blockchain started to unexpectedly fork<\/p>\n<p>How is this pos in the top 10 crypto list?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Crypto Tea (@CryptoTea_) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoTea_\/status\/1629506844761653250?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 25, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Responding to the tweet, Solana Mobile developer Andrew Watson <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/creativedrewy\/status\/1629684773345185792\">said<\/a> that they chose &#8220;security over liveness&#8221; and pointed out that they are &#8220;in it for the long haul.&#8221; In replying to Watson, another community member raised other concerns, such as putting decentralized finance protocols at risk of insolvency.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-02\/b322ebb5-3ff2-4854-b35e-a3478bb6de10.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Community member commenting on the topic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Apart from these, other community members started to compare Solana to Ethereum and Bitcoin. A community member <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_ilmoi\/status\/1629914749952483330\">highlighted<\/a> in a Twitter thread that Ethereum went with the slow but sure route, while Solana chose to move fast while sometimes breaking. The Twitter user said that while Solana&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach is riskier, it also paves the way for faster innovation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-02\/4656ad77-c1d3-4a07-bc7c-46b719f9eef6.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Twitter user questioning Solana\u2019s status as an Ethereum killer.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Bitcoin supporter also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/getbitcoin108\/status\/1629603742000480257\">pointed<\/a> out how Bitcoin (BTC) never needs a restart in the midst of Solana\u2019s network issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Solana Spaces will close New York and Miami stores 7 months after opening<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 27, the Solana Foundation <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/solana.com\/news\/02-25-23-solana-mainnet-beta-outage-report\">published<\/a> a new update about the issue. According to the team, the Solana Mainnet Beta was successfully restarted on Feb. 26, and &#8220;no confirmed user transactions were rolled back or impacted.&#8221; However, the team highlighted that, at the moment, the root cause of the problem remains unknown and is still under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The Solana blockchain has met some notable outages through the years. In Sept. 2021, a major outage was caused by a denial-of-service attack by bots spamming Raydium. On May 2022, bots invaded the network, causing a 7-hour outage.
