Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earing on Bill Maher\u2019s podcast in February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    On the latest episode of the CNN and HBO Max <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>, host Wallace addressed the <em>Breaking Bad<\/em> actor\u2019s previous statements on <em>Club Random with Bill Maher<\/em>, which saw the actor and commentator debate the importance of teaching critical race theory in the U.S., as well as Cranston\u2019s stance on the Make America Great slogan. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    After Wallace described Cranston and Maher\u2019s back-and-forth debate as a \u201ctussle\u201d about \u201ccritical race theory and wokeness,\u201d he asked the Emmy-winning actor about \u201cthe role that <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> plays\u201d in the state of the country\u2019s political discourse. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Cranston briefly shared that he finds it \u201cdifficult to try to find truly unbiased reporting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>,\u201d before reiterating his previous sentiments about his support of teaching the theory. (Critical race theory examines how historical discrimination in the U.S. lives on\u00a0through race-blind legal and social policies regardless of whether the intention of said policies is to fuel racism, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edweek.org\/leadership\/what-is-critical-race-theory-and-why-is-it-under-attack\/2021\/05\">according to <em>EdWeek<\/em><\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI think it\u2019s imperative that it\u2019s taught, that we look at our history, much the same. I think that Germany has looked at their history in involvement in the wars, one and two, and embraced it and say, \u2018This is where we went wrong. This is how it went wrong. This is why it can\u2019t go wrong again,&#8217;\u201d Cranston said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He noted that Germany had done a \u201cvery commendable job\u201d with their public reckoning of the Holocaust, but that the U.S. \u201creally hasn\u2019t\u201d confronted its historical relationship to slavery in the same way. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cYou present it and say, \u2018Well, 400 years of slavery, yeah, but we\u2019re moving on, we\u2019re moving on,\u201d\u2018 he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s like, \u2018No, let\u2019s really discuss it. How did that happen? How did we get to a point where we treated other human beings as slaves? And we\u2019re OK with that?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He also addressed his previous comments to Maher about the Make America Great Again slogan, asking whether someone could \u201caccept that that could possibly be construed as a racist remark.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cMost people \u2014\u00a0a lot of people go \u2014\u00a0how could that be racist make America great again?\u201d he continued.  \u201cI said, just ask yourself from an African American experience, when was it ever great in America for the African American? When was it great? So if you\u2019re making it great again, it\u2019s not including them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He added that he believes it\u2019s up to white people to open themselves to the idea that white privilege exists.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cIt\u2019s to teach us in the woke world to open up and accept the possibilities that our privilege has created blind spots for us,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd maybe I haven\u2019t seen what is really happening yet in all my years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Cranston shared similar sentiments while speaking to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Fnamgo4ucTw\">Maher on Club Random<\/a>, with the two also getting into where they stand on white privilege versus advantage and Maher later arguing that he doesn\u2019t believe people in power have a mindset, conscious or subconscious, that supports them wanting to \u201cbe racist to people of color.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cThey don\u2019t understand it, but they are innately that way,\u201d Cranston responded, pointing to how the predominance of white men in Congress can uphold racist policies. \u201cWhat we don\u2019t recognize often is the privilege \u2014 or as you said, the advantage. Look at the makeup of Congress. You cannot deny that older white men are the predominant factor in Congress.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    At another point in his interview with Wallace, Cranston also spoke about a notable bit he did while guest starring on <em>Seinfeld<\/em> as the \u201csketchy\u201d fictional dentist, Dr. Tim Whatley.
