In a statement, the Binance representative said:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs of today, we are actively hiring for more than 500 roles with the goal of filling them by the end of H1 [&#8230;] We are not planning any layoffs.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The spokesperson was responding to a request for clarification from Cointelegraph on March 1 regarding a tip it had received of possible redundancies at the crypto exchange. The latest comments <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to completely refute this speculation.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, Binance had 463 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/careers\/job-openings\">listings<\/a> on its job openings page, with roles in business development, communications, customer support and engineering, to name a few.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-03\/0cf12212-8443-48c0-892e-84a769afc971.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Some of the business development job openings at Binance. Source: <\/em><em>Binance<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In January, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/01\/11\/binance-plans-15-30percent-hiring-spree-in-2023-even-as-rivals-cut-jobs.html\">said<\/a>\u00a0that the firm was planning for a hiring spree in 2023, increasing its headcount by 15% to 30%,\u00a0according to a Jan. 11 report from CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said that the company has hired more than 600 people since the start of 2023. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/research\/publications\/crypto-layoffs-by-month\">According<\/a> to CoinGecko, 84.8% of the crypto layoffs in January were due to crypto exchanges reducing headcount, including Coinbase, Huobi, Blockchain.com, Crypto.com and Luno. <\/p>\n<p>Coinbase announced it would be reducing its headcount by around 950 on Jan. 10, while Crypto.com announced on Jan. 13 that it would be reducing its workforce by around 500. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:<\/em> <\/strong><strong><em>Sen. Elizabeth Warren and colleagues demand to see Binance\u2019s balance sheets<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Binance has been regarded by some, such as Arcane, as one of the \u201cwinners\u201d of 2022,\u00a0with the fall of crypto exchange FTX and the implementation of zero-fee Bitcoin (BTC) trading leading to it capturing an overwhelming portion of the market. <\/p>\n<p>On the other side of the coin, the exchange has also seen intense scrutiny. Most recently, this has revolved around the alleged shuffling of $1.8 billion in funds which some have compared to the actions of bankrupt crypto exchange FTX.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Binance used $1.8 billion in customer funds for its own purposes, similar to what FTX did<\/p>\n<p>Here we go again<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Genevieve Roch-Decter, CFA (@GRDecter) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GRDecter\/status\/1630711444256718848?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 28, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao took to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> to respond to the allegations, labeling it \u201cFUD\u201d and suggesting it was standard practice for an exchange. <\/p>\n<p>This year has had a tough start for those working in the crypto industry, with at least 14 firms and nearly 3,000 jobs being lost in January before a milder\u00a0570 layoffs in February. <\/p>\n<p>But the tide could be turning, with the crypto market cap increasing by over 34% so far in 2023,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/charts\/\">according<\/a> to CoinMarketCap, and other firms, such as USDC issuer Circle, also planning to go on a hiring spree.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
