On Feb. 28, the $4 billion firm behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club announced a Bitcoin-based NFT project dubbed \u201cTwelveFold,\u201d marking a notable form of recognition of the Ordinals movement. <\/p>\n<p>In a new report <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.galaxy.com\/research\/whitepapers\/bitcoin-ordinals-inscriptions-5-billion-nft-market\/\">published<\/a>  on March. 3, Galaxy researchers analyzed the potential growth of Bitcoin NFTs and made estimations \u201cconservatively based on the current size of Ethereum\u2019s NFT market\u201d and its growth rate over the past few years.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhile there are notable differences between in<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ions and NFTs, it\u2019s fair to say that a native on-chain ecosystem for NFTs has emerged on Bitcoin in a way that was never before possible, and its usage has been exploding.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The report provided three different market cap predictions based on the firm\u2019s analysis, covering a bear case, base case and bull case scenarios. <\/p>\n<p>Looking at Galaxy\u2019s baseline analysis, the report outlined that if Bitcoin NFTs can \u201cexpand to mainstream NFT culture like PFPs [Profile Pictures], memes and utility projects,\u201d the market capitalization should increase to $4.5 billion. <\/p>\n<p>The researchers also noted that the projection of $4.5 billion is also based on the \u201crapid development in inscription awareness coupled with the marketplace\/wallet infrastructure already [being] out today.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fantastic research piece by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intangiblecoins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@intangiblecoins<\/a> at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/galaxyhq?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@galaxyhq<\/a> on the rise of Bitcoin Ordinals: <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $4.5B base case market <br \/>&#8211; Help with Bitcoin&#8217;s fee market <br \/>&#8211; Increase the design space for smart contracts<\/p>\n<p>Read more here<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Held (@danheld) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danheld\/status\/1631715743627890688?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 3, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In a bear case, in which Bitcoin NFTs don\u2019t creep into the mainstream NFT market and pry market share away from Ethereum, Galaxy estimated that Bitcoin NFTs can still reach a market cap of $1.5 billion based on the current level of interest and supporting infrastructure. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Total crypto market cap takes a hit amid Silvergate Bank crisis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the bullish side of things, Galaxy researchers estimate that the Bitcoin NFT market could reach around $10 billion if it manages to provide strong competition to Ethereum NFTs, while also providing unique use cases.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-03\/0a242fc0-6f4d-44e9-90db-ce3625d7f903.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Estimated Bitcoin NFT market cap: Galaxy Digital<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the time of the report, more than 250,000 Ordinals have hit the market, and highlighting the significance and utility of Bitcoin NFTs, the researchers noted that: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe addition of sizeable data storage with strong availability assurances opens up a variety of use cases, many of which are only beginning to be explored, including things like new types of decentralized software or bitcoin scaling techniques.
