And so what I wanted to produce for everybody is exactly what I said. The people could actually look at it and see what\u2019s gone on that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s comments came one day after Carlson\u00a0aired never-before-seen angles\u00a0of footage from the Jan. 6 attack on his prime-time show, rejecting the notion that the day was a \u201cdeadly insurrection\u201d and instead describing it as \u201cmostly peaceful chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A number of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/05\/us\/politics\/jan-6-capitol-deaths.html\">deaths have been tied<\/a>\u00a0to the Capitol attack, and more than 100 law enforcement officers were injured amid the violence.<\/p>\n<p>Asked on Tuesday if he agreed with Carlson\u2019s de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion of Jan. 6 being \u201cmostly peaceful chaos,\u201d McCarthy responded, \u201cI don\u2019t know what Tucker Carlson said.\u201d When pressed on if he believed the day was an insurrection, McCarthy returned to the matter of transparency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI continue to hold that my job here, just like I was asked long before, is to make sure all the transparency comes out. And that\u2019s exactly what I\u2019m doing,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cAnd just like all of you cover news, people who are able to interpret the way they want. But I think the fairest way to do it instead of trying to clip it into something else, allow all the transparency so everybody can see so Jan. 6 never happens again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later Tuesday evening, however, he reiterated that he condemns what transpired on Jan. 6.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson\u2019s broadcast on Monday night \u2014 the first of a two-part installment \u2014\u00a0ignited a political firestorm\u00a0on Tuesday, with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, and even a top law enforcement official, condemning the host\u2019s depiction of the deadly riot.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger, who does not frequently weigh in on political matters, wrote to lawmakers in a memo that Carlson\u2019s show was full of \u201coffensive and misleading conclusions about the Jan. 6 attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe program conveniently cherry-picked from the calmer moments of our 41,000 hours of video. The commentary fails to provide context about the chaos and violence that happened before or during these less tense moments,\u201d he wrote in the memo, later adding, \u201cThose of you who contributed to the effort to allow this country\u2019s legislative process to continue know firsthand what actually happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday\u00a0held up a copy of Manger\u2019s statement\u00a0and told reporters he wanted to \u201cassociate myself entirely with the opinion of the chief of the Capitol police about what happened on Jan. 6.\u201d He said his \u201cconcern is how it was depicted.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIt was a mistake, in my view, [for] Fox News to depict this in a way completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at the Capitol\u201d described, McConnell added.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy sidestepped questions about that criticism hours later. Asked about Manger\u2019s comments he said he \u201cdidn\u2019t see what was aired\u201d before emphasizing transparency.<\/p>\n<p>Pressed on McConnell\u2019s reaction, McCarthy said he hoped the Senate minority leader \u201cwould\u2019ve been concerned\u201d about reporting from CNN that said, during the Jan. 6 riot, lawmakers were brought to Fort McNair. The Speaker said members were told not to share their location. McCarthy brought up CNN\u2019s reporting at a separate point during the press conference as well.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The Speaker said he will release all the footage to all <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> outlets, but did not indicate when.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy on Tuesday did, however, say the deaths of officers tied to Jan. 6 was \u201ctragic.\u201d During the program, Carlson cast doubt on the circumstances around the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died the day after the riot. D.C.\u2019s chief medical examiner said Sicknick died of natural causes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officers\u2019 deaths is tragic,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cAny time an officer has passed in this situation I want to make sure they\u2019re protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p><em>Emily Brooks contributed to this story.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
