\n A Canadian woman was killed when her pit bull mauled her during a walk \u2014 after she\u2019d left an even more dangerous dog at home, according to reports.<\/p>\n

The unidentified woman was first spotted dead in a ditch Tuesday morning in Nova Scotia when a teenage jogger came across the on-the-loose dog and feared it would attack her, too, before it fled, CBC said.<\/p>\n

Another neighbor, Jocelyn Parker, then arrived, telling the station the woman\u2019s injuries were \u201crather extensive and it was very app<\/a>arent she had passed away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) immedia<\/a>tely put out an alert for the \u201ctan & brown Pitbull on the loose,\u201d warning, \u201cStay indoors, do not approach, considered dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

The force later revealed that the dog died after being hit by a car more than an hour after the attack in Middle Musquodoboit.<\/p>\n

Neighbors told The Chronicle Herald they were shocked when they discovered which dog had killed her owner \u2014 because they assumed it would have been a second pit bull that they insist was more threatening.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I found out it was that dog I was shocked, I couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d the male neighbor said, claiming it previously attacked the owner.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly the other dog was always a constant worry for myself when I\u2019d leave the house to go to work,\u201d he said, worried about it \u201cattacking the animals or attacking my wife when she was out working.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThose dogs were the focal point of her life,\u201d he said of his neighbor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she really tried to help the problem dog become a better dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police confirmed that the victim \u201cwas walking her dog when it attacked her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with the victim\u2019s family during this difficult time,\u201d the RCMP said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
