Shaudy\u2019s game revolves around formulating an experience that only he can curate, making R&amp;B that gets heavy radio play an automatic non-starter. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            \u201cFirst and foremost, everybody know it. It ain\u2019t real sauce,\u201d he protests. \u201cI like <i>sauce<\/i>.\u201d A few suggestions from Shaudy to step up your courting if you struck out on Valentine\u2019s Day: H-Town\u2019s \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MccvOZFSCL4\">Baby I Wanna<\/a>,\u201d Sonder\u2019s \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NomGdaA-g0w\">What You Heard<\/a>,\u201d and \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=t8jpOt4olP8\">Close Friends<\/a>\u201d by him. It\u2019s a given that R&amp;B playlists would eventually come up while talking to Shaudy Kash, a prolific recorder who has zoned out to SZA\u2019s beguiling voice in song outros and reworked The Internet\u2019s \u201cHold On\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ces0LCjQACo\">to match the energy of his flings<\/a>. So far this year, the Detroit rapper has released two mixtapes: January\u2019s <i>On the Yeah Side 2<\/i> with Top$ide and <i>Ghetto Heartthrob 2<\/i> from last month. <\/p>\n<p>            Of the two, I\u2019m more partial to <i>On the Yeah Side 2<\/i>. Sure, its subject matter is more meandering than <i>Ghetto Heartthrob 2<\/i>\u2019s ladies\u2019 man struggles, but the chemistry that Shaudy\u2019s developed with Monroe, Louisiana-raised, Detroit-based producer Top$ide has me wanting to see how far they can take it. Where other rappers might use brute force to tame Top$ide\u2019s thick basslines and smoky chords, Shaudy tries to become part of a song\u2019s production, like on \u201cSmooth As Ice,\u201d where he makes his sentences aggressively curve inward like the snaking instrumental loop. The first music that caught his ear came from Tha Eastsidaz. (\u201cTrue story: I was two years old. You know how kids be on Spider-Man? I put Snoop Dogg and Bow Wow on my cake.\u201d) His father, who rapped under the name <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/AT0PcXLhqIQ\">Eeyanjae<\/a>, had him around the studio since he was young, but he didn\u2019t think much of rap until later. Football was his first love\u2014he played running back in high school\u2014and some of his fondest memories come from jamming Doughboyz Cashout and Team Eastside on the way to football practice. When he began putting out songs as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UbVZSAjuiKo\">Young Shaudy<\/a>, he played around with different voices and flows the way kids typically do. You can see how his knotty and referential style begins to crystallize on a 2015 remix to the late Dex Osama\u2019s \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8WxZGM9wtvE\">Going Down Tonight<\/a>,&#8221; a call-back to the Celly Cel track, one of his first songs to garner local attention. It\u2019d be a few more years, and a pained decision to leave football behind when he dropped out of college until Shaudy began consistently dropping music.<\/p>\n<p>            Shaudy\u2019s winding storytelling certainly takes some cues from the Bay, but the abrupt bursts of emotion\u2014essentially character breaks from his nonchalant musical persona\u2014are undeniably Detroit. His projects tend to go featureless, which is a feat in a scene as communal as Detroit\u2019s, but he\u2019s a clear stylistic descendant of Babyface Ray. Though where Ray can seem like he\u2019s directing a heist film with life-or-death stakes, Shaudy comes off like the friend who disappears for a weekend and comes back to the group chat with wild-ass stories. With two tapes already under his belt this year, Shaudy\u2019s got his eye set on other things. Her day kinda sucked, so she figured that she\u2019d find a way to make it at least a little better. \u201cDay was kinda trash\/But, there\u2019s silver lining,\u201d the Queens rapper\/singer whispers. \u201c\u2018Cause now I\u2019m really high.\u201d As her lyrics drift from vibing with breathing trees to watching <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> to feel the textures of colors, it\u2019s hard not to imagine Kelly Moonstone skipping around with an impossible to hide smirk.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-243685\" class=\"content_block paragraph embed triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kelz_%E2%80%9CGood_2_Me_Zillion_Remix%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>\n        Kelz, \u201cGood 2 Me (Zillion Remix)\u201d<br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\">\n    <iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/track=4264307656\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/transparent=true\/\" seamless><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thezillionss.bandcamp.com\/track\/good-2-me-kelz-zillion-remix\">Good 2 Me &#8211; Kelz (ZILLION Remix) by zillion<\/a><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;\">\n<p>Since emerging last year with \u201cSinner,\u201d Kelz has kept a steady drip of teasers, new songs going to hold over fans. \u201cGood 2 Me,\u201d his first track of the year, dropped in January. I like it, but this remix by New York-based producer zillion has stayed in my rotation since I first heard it because it goes all-in on the clubby itch the original scratched at. With Kelz\u2019s vocals peeking through like a glint of sunlight, the remix\u2019s log drums and shakers create the broody atmosphere of an amapiano track. In the anxiety-inducing first half, you can practically hear her thoughts pacing back and forth in her head. You can hear it in Detroit through <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/topsideproductions\">Top$ide<\/a>\u2019s funky production, in Florida where guys like Mari Montana and Reace Sosa are, respectively, smashing <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/oyjNItN8jhw\">No Limit<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E4FbQxMdQkc\">Cash Money<\/a> samples, and even in Milwaukee, where it sounds like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GV3eFksTiyk\">bounce music has mutated into something new<\/a>. A trio of recent tapes from Baltimore\u2019s Lil 2 Dow, Southeast D.C.\u2019s Paco Panama, and P.G. County\u2019s Baby 9eno are the latest additions to the ever-expanding list. <\/p>\n<p>            Paco\u2019s husky voice, affinity for heavy beats adorned with hypnotic synths, and blunt-force hooks call to mind Los from Detroit. (So much so that I had to do a double take when I <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=56tOueK3Q84\">heard Los\u2019 voice<\/a> on <i>The Wire Vol. 1<\/i>). They both share an eye for details so specific that I suspect they\u2019re location and talent scouts for Tubi flicks. On <i>21 Gun Salute<\/i>, Lil 2 Dow pairs his conversational flow with the slinkiest, most luxurious grooves he could find. Nothing about it feels rehearsed or studied\u2014everything he raps comes off as if it\u2019s rolling off his tongue for the first time. A bricolage of production styles\u2014Alexander Spit\u2019s head-splitting chops and airy samples, AYOCHILLMANNN\u2019s breezy waltzes, Niontay\u2019s jittery drum programming and ominous loops\u2014meets the Tigrayan rapper\u2019s tightly guarded memories. It\u2019s impossible to guess where he\u2019ll go: A noodly stretch like \u201cThe Running Man Exotic\u201d to \u201cWhite Fans,\u201d where all three songs are produced by Spit, congeals together into one long release of pent-up feelings. \u201cWhen I make it to the top, gon be a rope in my hand,\u201d he raps. \u201cImma help you up.\u201d <i>DON\u2019T JUST STAND THERE<\/i> is the most satisfying first-listen I\u2019ve had all year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sideshow - S.H.O.W.
