Based on the Broadway musical, the movie also stars<strong>\u00a0Ben Platt<\/strong>, <strong>Kaitlyn Dever<\/strong>, and <strong>Amandla Stenberg<\/strong>, and follows an awkward teen who lies and says a fellow classmate who recently died by suicide was secretly his best friend. Per THR, Adams has signed on to the film in a supporting role.\u00a0<em>Dear Evan Hansen<\/em> is a Broadway musical that opened in 2016 and won several Tony awards. The title character, originated by Ben Platt on stage (and who will also be played by Platt in the film) is \u201ca <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>ly awkward teen who gets caught up in a lie when he says he was best friends with a schoolmate who commits suicide. The act initially brings him closer to a crush and brings him attention but he must face repercussions when the truth surfaces.\u201d Here\u2019s the stage production\u2019s official synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he\u2019s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in.<\/p>\n<p>Both deeply personal and profoundly contemporary,\u00a0<strong>DEAR EVAN HANSEN<\/strong>\u00a0is a new American musical about life and the way we live it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kaitlyn Dever is playing Zoe, Evan\u2019s crush who is also the sister of the dead student;\u00a0<strong>Colton Ryan<\/strong> will play Connor, the teen who dies; and now Amy Adams will play\u00a0Cynthia Murphy, mother of Zoe and Connor. Adams\u2019 role will require her to sing, something she\u2019s done on screen before in films like\u00a0<em>Enchanted<\/em> and\u00a0<em>The Muppets<\/em>. One of her character\u2019s songs can be heard above. Other cast members include\u00a0Amandla Stenberg and\u00a0<strong>Nik Dodani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephen Chbosky<\/strong> is directing the film from a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> by\u00a0<strong>Steven\u00a0Levenson<\/strong>, who wrote the book for the stage musical. The music and lyrics come from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also wrote songs for\u00a0<em>La La Land and The Greatest Showman<\/em>.
