The source of this issue is unknown, though it seems to affect a limited number of Galaxy S23 and S23+ smartphones. Samsung\u2019s Galaxy S23 Ultra is unaffected.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.com\/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-und-S23-Kamera-Manche-User-beklagen-stark-sichtbare-Unschaerfe-in-Photos-Problem-teils-reproduzierbar.699790.0.html\"><em>NotebookCheck<\/em><\/a>, several Galaxy S23 users on the\u00a0German Android help forum <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.android-hilfe.de\/forum\/samsung-galaxy-s23.4144\/diskussionen-zu-der-kamera-des-galaxy-s23.1053630-page-25.html#post-13394831\">complained about a blurry \u201cring\u201d<\/a> or \u201carch\u201d shape when shooting photos. Essentially, the center and corners of an image look sharp, but a portion\u00a0<em>around<\/em> the center looks unusually blurry or soft. (This also occurs when shooting RAW images, which could suggest a hardware problem.)<\/p>\n<p>We managed to replicate this problem using our Galaxy S23 (which was sent to us courtesy of AT&amp;T).\u00a0Of course, it\u2019s a very subtle blur. And to my relief, it\u2019s very hard to notice without zooming in on a photo. I don\u2019t believe that this will have a real impact on everyday photography.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, I know that these tests are a bit un-scientific. I pointed the Galaxy S23 at a passage from a book and shot about two dozen images. But the ring-shaped blur pattern <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared in all images, corroborating the photos shared by other users.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, this blurry camera problem may have been inherited from Samsung Galaxy S22-<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> phones (which use the same cameras as the S23 and S23+). I managed to find a few complaints about blurry Galaxy S22 cameras on the Samsung support forum. Affected Galaxy S22 customers describe a blurry \u201cring\u201d similar to what we see in the Galaxy S23. (Though this may be a coincidence.)<\/p>\n<p>Note that some Galaxy S23 and S23+ devices aren\u2019t affected by this problem. And, as I mentioned earlier, it\u2019s very difficult to notice this camera blur. (Honestly, I worry that some examples of this problem may be bad photography, as opposed to a camera problem. The most extreme examples just look like motion blur.)<\/p>\n<p>Samsung hasn\u2019t commented on this camera problem. If you own a Galaxy S23 or S23+, I suggest that you sit tight and wait for an official word.
