So, the annual fest was the logical place for <em>Mrs. Davis<\/em>, the Peacock <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof where Betty Gilpin stars as a Catholic nun who takes it upon herself to confront the evils of AI. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In conversation with <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s James Hibberd during the panel \u201cMrs. Davis: The Future of Tech &amp; Entertainment\u201d presented by Canon AMLOS at SXSW, the creatives talked about the origins of the series, which they started working on more than two years ago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cThe inspiration was the feeling that we all had about the future and where we were all moving with AI,\u201d said Hernandez, who notes the project came about before ChatGPT and Open AI made artificial intelligence a subject of everyday conversations. When originating <em>Mrs. Davis<\/em>, the duo were thinking about the moral quandaries brought about by everyday <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> use across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cThe idea [came from] taking something that was really worrying us. [We were] saying, \u2018Oh my God, I am too reliant on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>. But at the same time, I really like it and need it and it is sort of connecting me to people.&#8217;\u201d added Lindelof. \u201cHow do we start to reconcile this anxiety through a fun lens?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Hernandez talked about writing for an AI character, the eponymous Mrs. Davis. The character would be the antithesis of HAL, cinema\u2019s best-known AI, as seen in <em>2001 Space Odyssey<\/em> when portrayed as a sinister red light. Says Hernandez, \u201cWe wanted to take a lighter touch.\u201d Lindeloff adds that AI is now familiar to audiences, \u201cWe keep anthropomorphizing AI \u2014 we are calling it Alexa and Siri.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The panel discussion turned toward AI\u2019s potential <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lication in Hollywood. When asked if they could see if AI could be incorporated in the writers room, Lindelof responded, \u201cFor sure. My guess is, it starts as a lark. Fundamentally, no writer that I am aware of wants to be replaced by generative artificial intelligence. But at the same time, if you think of it more as a tool, you can have a lot of fun with it if it bolsters the process.\u201d Hernandez guessed that Hollywood isn\u2019t far away from an AI-generated feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In a <em>THR<\/em> story from January that looked into AI\u2019s advances in Hollywood, the Writers Guild of America West said in a statement, \u201cWe\u2019re monitoring the development of ChatGPT and similar technologies in the event they require additional protections for writers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The <em>Mrs. Davis <\/em>writers room incorporated AI into their own process, building an AI to title their episodes \u2014 to varying degrees of success. Said Hernandez, \u201cThis is why episode seven is <em>Great Gatsby: 2001: A Space Odyssey<\/em>. It really latched onto the idea that a colon makes a title.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Ultimately, Lindelof noted, <em>Mrs. Davis<\/em> is a comedy and while it does tackle larger moral and ethical quandaries surrounding the tech, \u201cthe show is fundamentally hopeful.
