Police found she had last been seen on February 15 at a gun club in Palm Bay. She had been spending time with a friend, who claimed she was scheduled to meet up with her boyfriend later.<\/p>\n<p>The missing persons investigation took a dark turn when Howery\u2019s abandoned Honda Odyssey was found on the side of the road. Police interviewed Nancy\u2019s boyfriend,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Stearns<\/strong>, 32, twice during the investigation. According to Brevard County Sheriff <strong>Wayne Ivey<\/strong>, who spoke in a press conference, Stearns showed \u201csignificant areas of deception, and truly identified himself as a prime suspect in the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Related: Bryan Kohberger Is OBSESSED With TV Coverage Of His Murder Case<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-641248a8b2be0-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Once they had a suspect, they simply followed\u00a0<em>him<\/em> \u2014 and investigated his movements over the previous days. That led police to an area in Palm Bay they call \u201cThe Compound\u201d \u2014 and, disturbingly, \u201cfive different crime scenes\u201d within. Stearns was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently paranoid about being connected to Nancy\u2019s death and decided to burn, dismember, and bury her body in multiple locations. Per the press release:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe suspect returned to the scene of the crime and then burned the victim\u2019s body in an effort to destroy any evidence connecting him to the murder. After burning the body, the perpetrator took the charred remains of the victim and scattered them in several locations, including burying them in multiple areas of the Compound.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>This was all\u00a0<em>after<\/em> police had begun watching him. They say they caught him red-handed trying to bury partial remains. Eventually he confessed and was charged with <em>second-degree murder with a firearm<\/em>, <em>mutilation of a dead body<\/em>, and <em>tampering with evidence<\/em>. He is being held without bail at Brevard County Jail.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-641248a8b2be3-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Police told <em>WESH<\/em> they believe the two were having a heated argument when Stearns shot Nancy in a rage. Horrible. And instead of coming clean, to do that to her body.
