Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).<\/p>\n<p>First, Warren offended Harris and her team after she was asked\u00a0in a January interview\u00a0if President Biden should keep Harris as his vice president. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team,\u201d the senator told\u00a0a Boston radio station.<\/p>\n<p>Then, after Warren realized what she had done, she called Harris twice to offer an apology, as CNN reported this week. Harris didn\u2019t return her phone calls,\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlet also said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday night, Harris hosted a bipartisan dinner \u2014 attended by Warren \u2014 for female senators at the U.S. Naval Observatory, something she has done a couple of times, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with the dinner said that invites were extended more than a month ago as part of a long-running Senate tradition.<\/p>\n<p>The dinner \u2014 featuring Harris\u2019s signature cheese puffs and chicken \u2014 was partly aimed at quashing the storyline with Warren and putting the skirmish behind them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one was benefitting from this,\u201d said one source familiar with the tiff.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThey had to get rid of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>On Wednesday, Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) tweeted a video of the dinner\u00a0with senators sitting around a couch, smiling and waving at a camera. Warren\u00a0is seen near\u00a0Harris with Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) sitting between them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Allies close to both women acknowledge that there was \u201cbeef\u201d\u2014 as one put it\u2014 and it only ballooned after news reports on the skirmish made the rounds since late January after Warren did the interview on a local Boston radio show.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harris\u2019s allies were annoyed that Warren made the remark in the first place. \u201cIt was perceived to be a real slap in the face,\u201d one ally said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Warren\u2019s allies thought it was disrespectful of the vice president not to return the senator\u2019s calls, even as one source called the whole thing overblown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The narrative picked up steam when CNN reported the tension and national programs including ABC\u2019s\u00a0\u201cThe View\u201d\u00a0used it as part of their roundtable discussion on Monday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know\u00a0what the hell is wrong with Democrats?\u201d said Ana Navarro, a co-host of the\u00a0daytime talk\u00a0show and longtime Republican strategist who backed Biden in 2020 and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cListen, here\u2019s the bottom line: Joe Biden is going to be your nominee,\u201d an exasperated Navarro continued. \u201cStop talking about how old\u00a0he is,\u00a0and Kamala Harris is going to be your vice president. So stop fretting. Stop wringing your hands and get behind your ticket. Because on the side, the alternative is [former President] Donald Trump or [Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis [R].\u00a0So, you tell me what you\u00a0prefer.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Behind the scenes, some Democrats rolled their eyes at the squabble between two of their party\u2019s most prominent women.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is privileged people\u2019s problems. Meanwhile, on main street people are really suffering,\u201d said Nina Turner, a progressive activist who served as co-chair of Sen. Bernie Sanders\u2019s (I-Vt.) 2020 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been over a month, and I kind of understand where the vice president is coming from,\u201d Turner added. \u201cShe\u2019s certainly under no obligation to return Senator Warren\u2019s call, and that may seem uncouth, that may seem like, dang, that\u2019s cold. But hey, the vice president obviously feels like she was transgressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For months, Democrats have quietly grumbled about Harris and have wondered about her future political prospects \u2014 particularly if Biden decided against running in the 2024 race. Some questioned whether Harris is ready to go up against a Republican candidate like Trump or DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>And others have blamed Biden for not properly positioning her in case she was the Democratic nominee in 2024 or down the line in 2028.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI think that narrative hasn\u2019t been helpful for Harris,\u201d one Democratic strategist said. \u201cThat\u2019s why you\u2019re seeing all these hurt feelings from her side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turner agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe [Warren] didn\u2019t mean to take a swipe at Harris, but it\u2019s all in how Harris feels about it, and I think because she\u2019s been probably not utilized properly by this president, anything said about her seems like a swipe,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>For now, Warren\u2019s attention seems to be focused elsewhere.
