Named \u201cVirtual Volunteer,\u201d the object-recognition tool can answer questions about any image that it\u2019s sent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Imagine, for instance, that a user is hungry. They can simply photograph an ingredient and request related recipes. If they\u2019d rather eat out, they can take an image of a map and get directions to a restaurant. On arrival, they can snap a picture of the menu and hear the options. Unlike previous iterations of the company\u2019s vaunted models, GPT-4 is multimodal, which means it can analyse both images and text as inputs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be My Eyes jumped at the chance to test the new functionality. While text-to-image systems are nothing new, the startup had never previously been convinced about the software\u2019s performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFrom too many mistakes to the inability to converse, the tools available on the market weren\u2019t equipped to solve many of the needs of our community,\u201d says Buckley. \u201cThe image recognition offered by GPT-4 is superior, and the analytical and conversational layers powered by OpenAI increase value and utility exponentially.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be My Eyes previously supported users exclusively with human volunteers. <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/customer-stories\/be-my-eyes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to OpenAI,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the new feature can generate the same level of context and understanding.
