around the corner.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, arctic cold will blast the upper <strong>Midwest <\/strong>from the <strong>Dakotas <\/strong>and <strong>Minnesota<\/strong> down to <strong>Nebraska<\/strong>, <strong>Iowa <\/strong>and <strong>Wisconsin<\/strong>, as well as parts of <strong>Montana <\/strong>and <strong>Wyoming<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Frigid temperatures will target the <strong>East<\/strong> and the <strong>South <\/strong>on Sunday, while the 12th atmospheric river this season will start moving into <strong>California<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what you need to know about this weekend&#8217;s weather:\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Midwest\"><\/span>The Midwest\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;ll be so cold and windy in parts of the <strong>Midwest <\/strong>on Saturday that the wind chill could get down to 30 degrees below zero, said Bob Larson, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.<\/p>\n<p>The coldest places will be the <strong>Dakotas <\/strong>and <strong>western and northern Minnesota<\/strong>, he said, with wind chills between negative 10 and 30.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s harsh cold you usually find in January, not a few days from the start of spring,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That is pretty harsh for so late in the season.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The spring equinox is set for 5:24 p.m. EDT on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures and winds will ease up in the region on cold expected to impact the <strong>Midwest <\/strong>starts moving east on Saturday night, bringing possible lake effect snow and squalls across parts of <strong>Michigan<\/strong>, <strong>northern Ohio<\/strong>, <strong>Indiana<\/strong>,<strong> northwest Pennsylvania <\/strong>and <strong>westernNew York<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Snow is expected to impact parts of the region, with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/wwamap\/wwatxtget.php?cwa=BUF&amp;wwa=winter%20weather%20advisory\">up to six inches<\/a> expected from <strong>Erie, Pennsylvania <\/strong>to <strong>Buffalo <\/strong>and outside of <strong>Rochester, New York<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Winds could gust between 40 and 50 mph.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For so late in the season, it is quite impressive,&#8221; Larson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new season does bring something to look forward to relatively fast, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Much of the <strong>Northeast <\/strong>and <strong>Mid-Atlantic<\/strong> beyond this weekend cold snap could see mild, tranquil, storm-free weather the first few days of class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_South\"><\/span>The South<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Much of the <strong>South <\/strong>can expect a late-season freeze, with <strong>northern Texas<\/strong>, <strong>Oklahoma<\/strong>, <strong>Arkansas<\/strong>, <strong>northern Louisiana<\/strong>, <strong>northern-central Mississippi<\/strong>, and <strong>northern Georgia<\/strong>, including <strong>Atlanta, <\/strong>among areas likely affected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sub-freezing temperatures will affect the region Saturday night and into Sunday morning, threatening early crops and gardens, Larson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service has issued several freeze watches for that time period throughout the region, saying temperatures could be as low as class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"California_to_get_12th_atmospheric_river_storm\"><\/span>California to get 12th atmospheric river storm<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Another atmospheric river will begin affecting <strong>Southern California<\/strong> on Sunday night, with the storm continuing through the middle of next week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The worst of the storm is expected Tuesday into Wednesday, with several inches of rain expected at lower elevations and snow in the mountains.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Atmospheric river:<\/strong>The weather phenomenon extends thousands of miles from the tropics to the western U.S.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Florida\"><\/span>Florida<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile <strong>Florida<\/strong>, which is experiencing an unusually dry winter, will get some much-needed rain this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Widespread rains and scattered thunderstorms are expected through much of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The thunderstorms aren&#8217;t expected to be severe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s everyone talking about?:
