24-track double LP out today (March 24) via International Anthem. The Chicago singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist created her latest project partly in dialogue with Edward O. Bland\u2019s 1959 film <i>The Cry of Jazz<\/i>, which documented the parallels and intersections of the genre with Black life at large in Dawid\u2019s hometown, featuring performance performances from Sun Ra, John Gilmore, and Julian Priester.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            With contributions from Sun Ra Arkestra\u2019s Marshall Allen and Knoel Scott, <i>Requiem for Jazz<\/i> is a bridge from the past to the future. \u201cI want us to have this very wonderful conversation that Ed Bland started over 50 years ago, and I want to continue the conversation; because this is a loving conversation that we need to have with each other,\u201d Dawid explains.
