Given that Aaron Boone\u2019s contract is up at the end of the year, what are the chances they move on from him? \u2014 Drew Carr <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Yankees have a 2021 option on Boone, and my bet is they pick it up.<\/p>\n

He connects with players, understands the responsibility of managing in New York and understands the role of analytics in today\u2019s game<\/a>. Two 100-win seasons in his first two years tops whatever happ<\/a>ens this weird year.<\/p>\n

With the Red Sox roster basically up for sale, do you think the Yankees will go shopping there? \u2014 Rivka Meiselman <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Yankees and Red Sox haven\u2019t made many deals over the years \u2014 the last one was Stephen Drew from the Red Sox to the Yankees in 2014 \u2014 and it isn\u2019t likely the Yankees are going to part with young players the Red Sox would need to rebuild.<\/p>\n

Do you think there\u2019s any shot the Yankees are able to pry away Seth Lugo from the Mets? Could a package including [Miguel] Andujar, [Estevan] Florial and [Albert] Abreu be enough? \u2014 Tyler Honsel <\/strong><\/p>\n

With the mess the Mets\u2019 rotation has become and Lugo\u2019s value as a starter and reliever, it would be hard to imagine them moving the right-hander unless they get overwhelmed or have given up hope of making the postseason. Doubt the Yankees would part with Andujar and Florial for Lugo.<\/p>\n

What would be better: to trade for a SP or add Clarke Schmidt to the roster and call him up? What will [Brian] Cashman do? \u2014 Julia <\/strong><\/p>\n

The trade market in this COVID-19 affected season is going to be tricky for a variety of reasons. However, that might be the better road to take if a veteran is available rather than trusting pennant-race starts to a pitcher who hasn\u2019t pitched above Double-A yet.<\/p>\n

Do you see the Yankees [pursuing] Trevor Bauer or trading for a pitcher this winter? \u2002\u2014 Christian <\/strong><\/p>\n

That depends on what unfolds with free agents Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton, and how they feel about the possibility of having neophytes Deivi Garcia and Schmidt joining Gerrit Cole and Jordan Montgomery in next year\u2019s rotation, which could also include Jonathan Loaisiga and Mike King. And remember, they spent $324 million on Cole last offseason, and there is uncertainty what impact the pandemic will have on teams\u2019 ability spend in free agency. Then there is DJ LeMahieu\u2019s free agency to address.<\/p>\n

If we are interested in pitching, why does Cashman wait until another team grabs them? He does that all the time. Make up your mind and do it! \u2014 Vic Eltora <\/strong><\/p>\n

Going to need examples of that. In recent years, the Yankees acquired Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, Paxton, Zack Britton and J.A. Happ via trades and signed Cole. It\u2019s possible the trades the Yankees haven\u2019t made for pitching were because the teams didn\u2019t have a match or the money wasn\u2019t a fit.<\/p>\n

Will the Yankees re-sign [Didi] Gregorius next season now that they see a lot of other scouts were right? \u2014 Matt <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Yankees are committed to Gleyber Torres at short and will make an effort to keep LeMahieu at second. Under that scenario there won\u2019t be room for Gregorius. Should LeMahieu not return, then Gregorius would have to be a consideration, but remember they didn\u2019t make a big push to bring him back after last season.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
