\n When the Ted Lasso<\/em> cast got invited to visit the White House, Brett Goldstein admitted that despite it being a \u201cprivilege\u201d to be there, there was one ongoing issue he had to deal with: He didn\u2019t know what to do with his hands. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt was amazing and it was an honor and it was a privilege. But I\u2019ve never been more aware of my hands than I was all day,\u201d Goldstein recalled while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> on Thursday. <\/p>\n

\n He added, \u201cLike what do you do with your hands at the White House? I didn\u2019t know how to stand. I didn\u2019t know how to sit. I was like what is a person? I lost my mind. It\u2019s so serious. It\u2019s the fucking the White House. I\u2019m really trying not to swear, desperately trying not to make jokes. Like I\u2019ve never worked hard in my life.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n While visiting, Goldstein and co-stars Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Toheeb Jimoh and Brendan Hunt made an app<\/a>earance during a press briefing, where Sudeikis spoke about mental health and co-star James Lance made a fun cameo as beloved fictional\u00a0Independent<\/em>\u00a0reporter, Trent Crimm. However, Goldstein admitted to originally not knowing they were going to take the stage. <\/p>\n

\n He explained, \u201cWe didn\u2019t know this was happening. We were told Jason\u2019s going to do a little speech. We met Kamala [Harris] who was amazing and so charismatic, and we met her for five minutes. We were all sort of dazzled by her and then Toheeb [Jimoh] said to her, \u2018You glow!\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Stop flirting with [her]!\u2019 And then she said, \u2018Good luck in the press room.\u2019 And we were like \u2018What?\u2019 And it was literally like go on stage. So, we thought we were being set up.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Prior to going onstage, he said he asked Waddingham how to stand and she advised him to just keep his arms at his side. But Goldstein said he realized he \u201clooked mad\u201d in that stance. \u201cIt\u2019s like my hands were so heavy like the Hulk,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n When he settled on a stance with his hands crossed in front of him that he compared to that of security, Kimmel asked whether the actor was ever mistaken for the Secret Service to which Goldstein responded, \u201cOne of them did give me their card at the end, and I don\u2019t know if that was a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When recalling meeting with the president, Goldstein said they were going to have an hour with Joe Biden to talk about mental health. Prior to speaking with him, he said they were \u201cstrictly told\u201d where to sit, only he realized he had no cushion where he was sitting. \u201cSo, I then spend an hour \u2014 very important, honor, amazing \u2014 but the whole hour I\u2019m basically doing a wall sit like I\u2019m just tense trying to look like how people sit. Everyone else super casual. It was a power move,\u201d he quipped. <\/p>\n

\n Later on, Goldstein detailed what it was like on the last day of filming what could be the final season of Ted Lasso<\/em>: \u201cEveryone was crying and Jason did his speech\u2026 I kept sneaking off to the shower set to have a cry so no one could see. And I\u2019d come back in like \u2018why are you all crying? What\u2019s wrong with you.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Despite the end of Ted Lasso<\/em>, Goldstein\u2019s series<\/a> Shrinking<\/em>, which he co-created alongside Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence, was renewed for a second season at Apple TV+. When asked if he\u2019d ever make an appearance on the show, Goldstein didn\u2019t rule it out. \u201cIt\u2019s possible, as long as it makes sense,\u201d he told Kimmel. <\/p>\n

\n He went on to explain that, though he originally wasn\u2019t going to talk about it publicly, his father has Parkinson\u2019s disease, like Harrison Ford\u2019s character in Shrinking<\/em>. But after Lawrence accidentally shared that with the press, Goldstein had an amusing conversation with his father about it. He recalled his father saying, \u201cOh I\u2019m not ashamed. It\u2019s true. It\u2019s who I am\u201d but then added, \u201cAnd if you\u2019re telling the world I\u2019m based on Harrison Ford, fucking say it to everyone!\u201d<\/p>\n
