{"id":568521,"date":"2023-04-02T20:50:13","date_gmt":"2023-04-02T17:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/what-to-expect-at-trumps-arraignment-tuesday\/"},"modified":"2023-04-02T20:50:13","modified_gmt":"2023-04-02T17:50:13","slug":"what-to-expect-at-trumps-arraignment-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/what-to-expect-at-trumps-arraignment-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"#What to expect at Trump\u2019s arraignment Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/trumpdonald_032523getty_trump.png?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President Trump is set to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear in court on Tuesday to be arraigned after his indictment last week made him the first U.S. president \u2014 current or former \u2014 to face criminal charges.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump was indicted for his alleged role in organizing hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. Now a 2024 presidential candidate, Trump is expected to turn himself in Tuesday morning before the arraignment later that afternoon. The exact charges he\u2019ll face are still unknown, even to his own lawyers, as the indictment is sealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Attorney Joe Tacopina, who represents Trump, said a lot about Tuesday was still unknown, including whether the former president will be perp walked, but he did say he doesn\u2019t expect Trump will be handcuffed. Others have suggested Trump will have to be fingerprinted and take a mugshot, but it is unclear if that will be made public.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to Trump\u2019s surrender, Tacopina said he hoped it would be as  \u201cpainless and classy\u201d  as possible. The Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s office had reached out last week to coordinate Trump\u2019s appearance ahead of the grand jury\u2019s vote to indict.<\/p>\n<p>The future of the case may also crystalize this coming week, including Trump\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the Tuesday stuff is still very much up in the air other than the fact that we will very loudly and proudly say not guilty,\u201d Tacopina said, though he added his team is looking at a motion to dismiss after it sees the indictment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will take the indictment. We will dissect it. The team will look at every, every potential issue that we will be able to challenge and we will challenge, and of course I very much anticipate a motion to dismiss coming because there\u2019s no law that fits this,\u201d Tacopina said on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2019s investigation focused on a $130,000 payment Trump\u2019s former personal attorney\u00a0Michael Cohen\u00a0made to Daniels\u00a0shortly before the 2016 election to buy her silence about an alleged affair with the former president, which he denies.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Cohen, who was jailed for his involvement in the hush money payment to Daniels, has said he expects Trump will go through the process of being fingerprinted and having his mugshot taken when he gets to the court. The indictment is expected to be unsealed during Trump\u2019s appearance. <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> reports have suggested Trump will face multiple counts based on a number of financial transactions.<\/p>\n<p>James Trusty, another attorney for Trump, said on \u201cFox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> Sunday\u201d that \u201ca lot of people are recognizing the blatant persecution angle that\u2019s being pursued here,\u201d noting other probes into Trump by a district attorney in Georgia and by the Department of Justice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to creep into their minds and figure it out. There is a commonalty here which is they are pushing the envelope legally because they decided to target a man and try to put charges on him rather than actually follow evidence and begin judiciously as prosecutors like your ethics tell you to do,\u201d Trusty said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trusty said he suspected the indictment would be legally frail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd in this case, it seems like what we\u2019re guessing the indictment will look like is it will have legal frailties that will be subjected to a very legitimate motion to dismiss early on,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo my hope is that despite some of the hysterics at the moment, despite some emotionality and frustration, the president certainly deserves to feel that this judge will do the right thing when he\u2019s faced with significant legal motions,\u201d Trusty added, in response to questions about Trump attacking the judge overseeing the case.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Ahead of Tuesday\u2019s scheduled arraignment, which is slated for 2:15 p.m., Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is set to take part in a \u201cpeaceful protest\u201d coordinated by the New York Young Republicans Club around noon that day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtesting is a constitutional right and I am going to NY on Tuesday to protest this unprecedented abuse of our justice system and election interference,\u201d Greene <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mtgreenee\/status\/1642548632749502465?s=20\">said<\/a> on her personal Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is expected to arrive in New York on Monday to spend the night at Trump Tower before he is to go to court in lower Manhattan the next day. His campaign announced Sunday that he is set to speak from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida at 8:15 p.m., after his scheduled appearance in Manhattan earlier that day. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump been vocal on his social media about the case, bashing Bragg and condemning the indictment as politically motivated, an accusation that\u2019s been echoed by many in his party. <\/p>\n<p>When Trump first floated his potential arrest in the case last month, he called for protests \u2013 echoing similar sentiments he made before the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol \u2013 prompting concerns about possible violence in the streets, but no such demonstrations took place. <\/p>\n<p>Still, ahead of the indictment, steel barricades were put up outside the Manhattan Criminal Court and the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s offices. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>After the indictment, the New York Police Department ordered every member of its force to report in full uniform Friday as \u201ca precautionary measure.\u201d The Washington Post\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/03\/31\/trump-arraignment-secret-service\/\">reports<\/a> that Secret Service agents have been involved in preparations for Trump\u2019s Tuesday appearance. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
