kind event in American history.<\/p>\n<p>The arraignment of former President Trump will be a spectacle, as the man leading GOP presidential polls for 2024 visits his former hometown in the midst of a widening primary fight.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump\u2019s indictment is seen by many as providing a boost for his nascent efforts at reelection, with Republican allies and foes starkly criticizing what they\u2019ve labeled as a politically-motivated prosecution.  <\/p>\n<p>A grand jury in New York voted to indict Trump in connection with his alleged role in hush money paid amid his 2016 presidential campaign to adult film star Stormy Daniels to silence her allegations of an affair, which Trump denies. <\/p>\n<p>There are a number of unanswered questions related to the matter, with Trump expected to surrender to prosecutors in Manhattan on still-unknown charges.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the biggest questions, and what we know about the answers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_is_Trump_and_how_is_he_getting_to_the_courthouse\"><\/span>Where is Trump and how is he getting to the courthouse?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed Monday to New York before his arraignment and will stay at his Trump Tower overnight before heading to the courthouse for surrender late Tuesday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The arraignment is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_will_be_public\"><\/span>What will be public?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s not entirely clear what will be public and what will be behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<p>A number of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> outlets have requested that Judge Juan Merchan, who is set to preside over the case, allow a limited number of photographers, videographers and radio journalists inside the courtroom during the former president\u2019s arraignment. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlets that have asked for the permission include The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Merchan is expected to issue an order on whether he will allow the cameras in the courtroom on Monday. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>He invited lawyers for both Trump and the district attorney to submit any concerns they may have about the presence of cameras by 1 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_an_indictment\"><\/span>What is an indictment?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>An indictment is formal notice to an individual that it\u2019s believed they\u2019ve committed a crime. For felony charges, a grand jury examines evidence and votes secretly on whether there\u2019s sufficient evidence that a crime occurred. A grand jury in New York voted to indict Trump last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The indictment includes basic information, but specific charges are typically revealed at an arraignment. He\u2019ll be asked how he wants to plead \u2014 and his attorney Joe Tacopina has already said his team plans for Trump to plead not guilty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_charges_will_Trump_face\"><\/span>What charges will Trump face?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The charges Trump will face are unknown for now, though it\u2019s possible the indictment will be unsealed when Trump appears in court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The media outlets that have requested the access of cameras in the courtroom have also asked the judge to unseal the indictment before the arraignment. It is unclear whether Merchan will grant the request ahead of Trump\u2019s arrival at the courthouse. <\/p>\n<p>Some reports have suggested that Trump could face dozens of charges, but the precise number is a mystery.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Will_he_get_a_mugshot_%E2%80%94_and_will_that_be_released\"><\/span>Will he get a mugshot \u2014 and will that be released?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Trump is expected to have his mugshot taken, but New York law discourages the public release of booking photos in most cases without a legitimate law enforcement need to release the image.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>However, the former president would still be able to release the photo on his own, according to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=trump+mugshot+albany&amp;oq=trump+mugshot+albany&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57l2j69i59l2.17141j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">Albany Times Union<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who was jailed for his involvement in the hush money payment to Daniels, said on Sunday he thinks Trump will \u201cabsolutely\u201d go through the formalities of being fingerprinted and getting his booking photo taken.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Will_he_be_handcuffed\"><\/span>Will he be handcuffed?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tacopina, who represents Trump, said over the weekend that much about Tuesday was still up in the air, including whether the former president will face a perp walk, but that he doesn\u2019t expect Trump will be handcuffed.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Tacopina said Sunday he hopes the arraignment process is \u201cpainless and classy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office has reached out to Trump\u2019s team to coordinate the court appearance, which has included deliberations with the Secret Service.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Will_he_be_released\"><\/span>Will he be released?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Trump is expected to be released after his arraignment and has set plans to speak at his Palm Beach residence later on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>The former president will likely be free to travel after the arraignment because the charges against him aren\u2019t expected to include any violent felonies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Are_protests_expected\"><\/span>Are protests expected?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Ahead of the indictment, Trump had called on his supporters to protest his anticipated arrest, which stoked worries about possible violence and prompted even some in Trump\u2019s party to stress that any protests should stay peaceful. <\/p>\n<p>No widespread demonstrations took place, but authorities have been taking precautions surrounding the indictment and arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said over the weekend that she\u2019ll take part in a protest coordinated by the New York Young Republican Club around noon on Tuesday, before the 2:15 p.m. arraignment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New York City Mayor\u00a0Eric Adams\u00a0(D) on Monday warned Greene and the protesters to \u201cbe on your best behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Secret Service agents have been involved in preparations for Trump\u2019s Tuesday appearance, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/03\/31\/trump-arraignment-secret-service\/\">The Washington Post<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Will_the_judge_issue_a_gag_order_in_the_case\"><\/span>Will the judge issue a gag order in the case?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Merchan could impose a gag order, which would block Trump, his legal team and witnesses from publicly discussing the case. <\/p>\n<p>Gag order violations mean a party could be held in contempt of court.
