While you know that storing your savings in the freezer is not the best idea, you may not be too sure where you should keep it to get the\u00a0biggest bang for your buck.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Find Out: Here\u2019s How Much Americans Have in Their Savings Accounts in 2023<br>More: How To Guard Your Wealth From a Potential Banking Crisis With Gold<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We reached out to financial experts nationwide to find out the safest (and smartest) places to keep your savings.\u00a0We came up with four tried and true methods for protecting your money and maybe even watching it grow.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"High-Yield_Savings_Account\"><\/span>High-Yield Savings Account<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Across the board, most of our experts agreed that a high-yield savings account is one of the best ways to keep your money safe.<\/p>\n<p>Garit Boothe, the owner of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/digitalhoney.money\/\">Digital Honey<\/a>, said, \u201cThese accounts offer higher interest rates than traditional savings accounts and are FDIC-insured, which means that the government will protect your money up to $250,000 in case the bank fails.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ian Wright, managing director at\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/businessfinancing.co.uk\/\">businessfinancing.co.uk<\/a>, agreed: \u201cHigh-yield savings accounts offer a variety of benefits, including higher interest rates than regular savings accounts, low fees, FDIC insurance for up to $250,000 in deposits, and convenient access to your funds through online banking or mobile <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally,\u201d he said, \u201cmany high-yield savings accounts offer bonus interest rates on deposits that stay in the account for a certain length of time. This encourages you to save, and your money can still grow even when it isn\u2019t actively being used.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Take Our Poll: Are You Concerned About the Safety of Your Money in Your Bank Accounts?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Certificate_of_Deposit_CD\"><\/span>Certificate of Deposit (CD)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you have some extra money that you won\u2019t need in the next few months, a certificate of deposit can be a great option for reliable earnings, especially right now with interest rates soaring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA great thing about CD accounts is that your rate is locked in,\u201d said Morgan Gray, SVP, Head of Bask Bank and Consumer Segmentation. \u201cWhen rates are high, as they are right now, you are guaranteed that interest rate through the length of your CD term. So, no matter what the rate environment looks like over the course of that term \u2014 six months, a year, or longer \u2014 you\u2019re still going to earn the rate you did when the account was opened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gray says another added benefit of choosing a CD is that it encourages responsible saving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t want to be tempted to spend your savings, CDs are a great option to ward off impulse spending and reward you with high interest returns at the end of the account term. By choosing to open a CD account that\u2019s FDIC insured, you\u2019re also adding an additional level of security to your savings.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Money_Market_Account\"><\/span>Money Market Account<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMoney market accounts are a type of savings account that offers a higher interest rate than traditional savings accounts and can be a good option for keeping your savings safe,\u201d said\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.andrewlokenauth.com\/\">Andrew Lokenauth<\/a>, a personal finance expert. \u201cThey often have higher minimum balance requirements than other savings accounts, and they may also have limited check-writing capabilities. Money market accounts are FDIC-insured up to $250,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoney market accounts are more flexible than the average traditional savings account,\u201d said Gabriel Lalonde, president of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mdlfinancialgroup.ca\/\">MDL Financial Group<\/a>. \u201cThey offer a higher interest rate than traditional savings accounts, and they work essentially as a hybrid deposit account with check-writing and debit card privileges. They are FDIC-insured, meaning that the government backs your money.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Treasury_Securities\"><\/span>Treasury Securities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cU.S. Treasury securities, such as Treasury bills, notes and bonds, are considered to be among the safest investments because they are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government,\u201d Boothe said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lokenauth added, \u201cThey are considered to be a very safe investment, as they are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government.
