Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The vehicles have sensors enabling them to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> on pre-selected roads at up to 80kph. The buses will be operating at AV Level 4, meaning they have a trained safety driver onboard, but the driver will not be expected to touch the controls whilst the vehicle is in autonomous mode.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fully driverless cars are not legally permitted in the UK. It is part of the UK government\u2019s \u00a3100 million Intelligent Mobility Fund, which aims to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">speed up the commercialisation of self-driving transport <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAVForth\u2019s rollout of the autonomous bus fleet next month will mark a culmination of over four years\u2019 of research, planning, and development. Similar CAV projects are planned in <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/science\/1730048\/self-driving-bus-worlds-first-streets-edinburgh-awarded-government-funding\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunderland and Belfast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Driverless buses are not a new concept. In 2021, a new driverless electric bus <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/feb\/25\/driverless-electric-bus-hits-the-road-in-spanish-city-of-malaga\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">began<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> operating in Malaga, Spain, in a project presented as a first in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the UK, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cambridge Connector project, which aims to deploy 13 automated electric vehicles across the city, is set to <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/telecoms.com\/519705\/self-driving-bus-trial-to-launch-in-cambridge\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">launch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> next year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps Europe\u2019s biggest self-driving car project is <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unige.ch\/communication\/communiques\/en\/2022\/55-millions-pour-developper-les-transports-publics-du-futur\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ULTIMO<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which has a budget of over <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac55m and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will test autonomous public transport services in three European cities: Geneva, Switzerland; Kronach, Germany; and Oslo, Norway.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fully autonomous vehicles have long been a goal for major automakers and companies, with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">plenty of startups<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> vying for a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stake in the industry<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is, however, <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.verdict.co.uk\/fully-self-driving-cars-unlikely-before-2035-experts-predict\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">unlikely<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that self-driving cars without safety drivers will be spotted on public roads within the next decade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\n                        <\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
