Trump\u2019s allies in the House are locked in a fight with Bragg to secure his testimony as they seek to frame the charges as politically motivated. And Trump\u2019s campaign has been fundraising off of last week\u2019s courthouse <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance, to great effect.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Taken together, the strategy reflects how Trump and his team believe the charges are actually a political benefit to him in the short term.<\/p>\n<p>Trump dominated the airwaves early last week as his <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to New York City and subsequent surrender to authorities in Manhattan blocked out any other political storylines. (AP Photo\/Evan Vucci, File)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Strategists believe that if Trump can dominate a news cycle, it snuffs out possible momentum for his rivals for the 2024 GOP nomination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the same thing he did in 2016: The cable networks would show an empty podium where Trump was set to speak instead of showing his rivals giving actual speeches at the same time,\u201d said Alex Conant, who worked on Sen. Marco Rubio\u2019s (R-Fla.) 2016 presidential campaign. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly frustrating for his competitors. You can\u2019t move up in the polls without media attention, and Trump just starves the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A week since his arrest in Manhattan, Trump has faded into the background, as new headlines emerge: A <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=leaked+documents+thehill&amp;oq=leaked+documents+thehill&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160l2.3925j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=leaked+documents+thehill&amp;oq=leaked+documents+thehill&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160l2.3925j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">trove of leaked documents <\/a>containing sensitive material about U.S. allies and the war in Ukraine; the expulsion of two Black Democrats in Tennessee over gun violence protests; and a federal judge blocking FDA approval of a common abortion drug.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In response, Trump and his allies in Congress \u2014 which is not in session this week \u2014 have made a concerted effort to keep the former president\u2019s legal battle in New York top of mind.<\/p>\n<p>In his interview with Carlson that aired Tuesday, Trump ranted at length about what he believes is political persecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a sad day in many ways,\u201d Trump told Carlson. \u201cAnd in many ways it was a beautiful day because the people understand I didn\u2019t know this was happening, but the poll numbers have gone through the roof. The people get it and the other ones are hoaxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        Trump says he wouldn\u2019t drop out of 2024 race if convicted: \u2018It\u2019s not my thing\u2019<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Several fundraising emails sent out from the Trump campaign in the past week have referenced the former president\u2019s arrest or indictment, and an email sent Monday claimed the campaign had raised more than $14 million since news of the indictment broke roughly two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Most telling was a campaign effort that included a fake mugshot of Trump being sold on T-shirts while the former president was still in the courthouse being booked.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has been central to the effort in Congress to make sure Trump\u2019s indictment stays in the headlines.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The House Judiciary Committee, which Jordan chairs, is holding a hearing on April 17 in New York City intended to spotlight \u201cviolent crime in Manhattan,\u201d and more specifically to take aim at Bragg, the Manhattan prosecutor who brought charges against Trump.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1400\" height=\"787\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/jordanjim_030123gn03_w.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Rep. (Greg Nash)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jordan in recent days subpoenaed a former prosecutor who worked on the Trump investigation in Manhattan and last week asked another employee to turn over personal emails about how he came to be hired by Bragg\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Bragg, who has not been subpoenaed yet, filed an unprecedented\u00a0 lawsuit on Tuesday against Jordan, calling the congressman\u2019s efforts a \u201ctransparent campaign to intimidate and attack\u201d the district attorney\u2019s office\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, a frequent fixture on Fox News, said Tuesday he was worried that the Manhattan indictment was the start of broader legal troubles for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really concerned that they\u2019re going to indict him in Georgia, that they\u2019re \u2014 that the special counsel is going to bring in action as well,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cI think it\u2019s so wrong. I think the country understands that. It\u2019s not what our great nation, the greatest country ever, is supposed to be about.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        Alvin Bragg sues Jim Jordan: Four takeaways<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Separately, legislation from Rep. Russell Fry (R-S.C.) would allow Trump and other former presidents and vice presidents to move civil and criminal cases from state courts to federal courts, another swipe at Bragg. Jean Carroll as a result of the indictment.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Trump has pointed to polling showing the Manhattan case has already solidified his support with Republicans. A Reuters\/Ipsos <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en-us\/reutersipsos-survey-trump-remains-favored-2024-presidential-nomination-despite-criminal-charges\">poll<\/a> released three days after his arraignment found 58 percent of Republicans support Trump, and 40 percent said the criminal case made them more likely to vote for the former president.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        Majority of adults support Alvin Bragg\u2019s felony charges against Trump: poll<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Asked by Carlson if there was any legal case that would dissuade him from seeking the White House, Trump was unequivocal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I\u2019d never drop out,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not my thing.
