\n The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday recognized numerous artists the world has lost over the past year, but\u00a0 the late Kobe Bryant was absent from the list.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the tribute, Travis Barker recognized rapp<\/a>ers Juice Wrld and Pop Smoke in his intro, adding \u201cother brilliant artists we lost\u201d would be recognized, according to Entertainment Tonight. The black-and-white montage featured images of late music-centric stars, in addition to \u201cGlee\u2019s\u201d Naya Rivera and \u201cBlack Panther\u201d actor Chadwick Boseman, who died Friday after a private four-year battle with colon cancer.<\/p>\n

Viewers then vented their frustrations on Twitter<\/a> over Bryant\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t believe Kobe Bryant was missing from the memoriam segment at the VMAs! WHAT?! #KobeBryant,\u201d one fan wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey mentioned #ChadwickBoseman at the beginning of the #VMAs #VMA #VMAStanCam #VMAs2020 but they didn\u2019t mention #KobeBryant in the memoriam segment,\u201d another penned.<\/p>\n

\u201csomeone please correct me if I\u2019m wrong why did not the @vmas not mention @kobebryant and his daughter as they mentioned others who passed in 2020 #VMAs #KobeBryant,\u201d one tweeted.<\/p>\n

\u201c@MTV @vmas How DARE you guys Not pay tribute to KOBE BRYANT!!!! He is an Academy Award winner and Legend!!! And you choose to leave him out of your 2020 tribute! #BoycottVMAs #VMAs,\u201d another seethed, recognizing Bryant\u2019s 2018 Oscar win for the animated short, \u201cDear Basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bryant tragically died in a California helicopter crash in January, which also claimed the lives of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others. The Lakers legend was 41 years old.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Sunday\u2019s show, which was dedicated to Boseman, Lakers superstar LeBron James trashed 2020, calling it the \u201cs\u2014tiest year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo lose the Black Panther and the Black Mamba in the same year, can all agree that 2020 is the s\u2014tiest year \u2014 in my 35 years,\u201d James said over the weekend.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
