Ron DeSantis (R) and other state officials, alleging that DeSantis is harming the company\u2019s business operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit comes after months of Disney and DeSantis sparring over legislation that DeSantis has signed and steps the governor has taken to increase the state\u2019s control over Disney.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cA targeted campaign of government retaliation\u2014orchestrated at every step by Governor DeSantis as punishment for Disney\u2019s protected speech\u2014now threatens Disney\u2019s business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region, and violates its constitutional rights,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit comes after the board that DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed to oversee Disney\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wesh.com\/article\/central-florida-tourism-oversight-district\/43707407\">voted<\/a> Wednesday to void development contracts that Disney made.<\/p>\n<p>Disney said in its complaint that the action from the board was the \u201clatest strike\u201d leading to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u00a0signed\u00a0legislation at the end of February to end Disney\u2019s power over the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the 25,000 acres that Disney has owned and self-governed for decades. The law allowed DeSantis to appoint a board consisting of five members to govern the district.<\/p>\n<p>The move came after Disney openly criticized Florida\u2019s Parental Rights in Education law, dubbed the \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill by opponents. The law places restrictions on the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in public school classes from kindergarten to 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade.<\/p>\n<p>Disney said it would work to repeal the law and\u00a0vowed\u00a0to \u201cstand up for the rights and safety\u201d for the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>DeSantis began criticizing Disney soon after the company denounced the legislation,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/flgov.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Dissolving-the-Corporate-Kingdom.pdf\">calling<\/a>\u00a0it an \u201cunaccountable Corporate Kingdom\u201d that had \u201cextraordinary special privileges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the board that DeSantis created to oversee Disney, was set to take over, but the members\u00a0said\u00a0last month the Reedy Creek district signed a last-minute agreement with Disney that gave it developmental authority over the parks.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement led the DeSantis-appointed board to take action to try to declare the agreements void.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The Hill has reached out to DeSantis\u2019 office for comment.<\/p>\n<p><em>Updated: 12:51 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
