This is a political smear job directed\u00a0at Clarence Thomas, because he is an extraordinary constitutionalist,\u201d Cruz said on Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\u2019s \u201cSunday Morning Futures.\u201d The senator said he thinks Democrats are scrutinizing Thomas because an \u201cAfrican-American is not allowed to be a conservative.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<div class=\"ad-unit__content\">\n            <\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Recent<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/clarence-thomas-scotus-undisclosed-luxury-travel-gifts-crow\"> reporting from ProPublica<\/a> found that Thomas didn\u2019t disclose several luxury <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s paid for  by Texas billionaire Harlan Crow, and that the justice also didn\u2019t report a 2014 real estate deal he\u2019d made with the same Republican megadonor.\u00a0Thomas said later that he was \u201cadvised\u201d that he did not need to disclose the trips.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crow has also said he thinks the attacks on Thomas are politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>The ProPublica reports stoked renewed debate over ethics standards for the justices, who serve life terms, and potential reforms for the nation\u2019s highest court. <\/p>\n<p>Senate Judiciary Chairman\u00a0Dick Durbin\u00a0(D-Ill.)\u00a0summoned\u00a0Chief Justice\u00a0John Roberts\u00a0to Congress over the matter, an invite Roberts\u00a0declined.
