\n A startup claims to have launched a world-first AI speech-to-speech translation system.<\/p>\n

The tool, called Aivia, was developed by Interprefy<\/a>, a Zurich-based provider of translation services. The firm focuses on interpreting meetings and events \u2014 a market being turbocharged by globalisation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As interactions spread across borders, they can become harder to understand. Although English is the language of international business, it\u2019s only spoken by an estimated <\/span>17% of the world<\/span><\/a>. The remainder is often excluded from the conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interprefy supplies a way to remove this language barrier \u2014 and the demand seems strong.<\/span> In the eight years since the company was founded, Interprefy says it\u2019s supported over 50,000 meetings. They range from<\/span>\u00a0remote press conferences at <\/span>the Euro 2020<\/span><\/a> football tournament to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>interviews with astronauts<\/span><\/a> at the International Space Station.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aivia was designed to expand this client base. At the touch of a button, the service translates speech into audio and captions in real time. Interprefy<\/span>\u00a0claims it\u2019s the <\/span>first-ever advanced automated speech translation service for online and live events.<\/span><\/p>\n
