\n The Jets have seen enough of their summer kicker competition.<\/p>\n

The team released kicker Brett Maher on Monday, ending the training camp battle between Maher and Sam Ficken, last year\u2019s kicker.<\/p>\n

The move does not necessarily mean Ficken will be the kicker against the Bills on Sept. 13. There will be a lot of player movement in the next week as teams trim their rosters to 53 and the Jets could pick up another kicker. But for now, Ficken is the guy.<\/p>\n

Maher kicked for the Cowboys in 2018 and 2019. He made 20-of-30 field-goal attempts for Dallas last year before the team cut him. The Jets picked him up just after last season. He had a shaky training camp that ended with him going 2-for-4 on field goals in Sunday\u2019s practice at MetLife Stadium. Ficken made all four of his field-goal attempts Sunday.<\/p>\n

Ficken joined the Jets before Week 2 last year. He went 19-for-27 on field-goal attempts, with three of those misses coming from over 50 yards.<\/p>\n

The Jets released Maher to clear a roster spot for wide receiver Donte Moncrief, who officially signed with the team Monday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
