Remember IMAX movies? You see, kids, once upon a time, we left our houses to go to movie theaters to watch stuff on the big screen! But if we wanted to watch movies<\/a> on an even\u00a0bigger<\/em> screen, we\u2019d head to an IMAX theater. And Sony just announced a whole slew of their upcoming features are getting the IMAX treatment, including\u00a0Ghostbusters: Afterlife<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em><\/strong>, and more.<\/p>\n

Sony has announced several of its upcoming titles that will also be screening in IMAX (we\u2019ve confirmed this with Sony ourselves). Those titles include\u00a0Ghostbusters: Afterlife<\/em>,\u00a0Jason Reitman<\/strong>\u2018s sequel\/reboot;\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em>, the follow-up to\u00a0Venom<\/em>;\u00a0Morbius<\/em><\/strong>, the other Spider-Man spin-off that Sony hopes to parlay into box office gold; and\u00a0Uncharted<\/em><\/strong>, the long-delayed film adaptation of the video game<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

Ghostbusters: Afterlife<\/em>, which stars\u00a0Carrie Coon<\/strong>, Finn Wolfhard<\/strong>, Mckenna Grace<\/strong>, and Paul Rudd<\/strong>, follows a single mom and her two kids who arrive in a small town and \u201cbegin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.\u201d The film was originally supposed to open on July 10, 2020, but was delayed to March 5, 2021<\/strong>, due to the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The amazingly-titled\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em> features\u00a0Tom Hardy<\/strong>, Woody Harrelson<\/strong>, Michelle Williams<\/strong>, Reid Scot<\/strong>t, and Naomie Harris<\/strong>, with Andy Serkis<\/strong> directing. There\u2019s no synopsis yet, but the sequel will have Tom Hardy\u2019s Eddie Brock\/Venom dealing with Woody Harrelson\u2019s\u00a0Cletus Kasady\/Carnage. Sony hoped to open the movie on\u00a0October 2, 2020, but had to delay to\u00a0June 25, 2021<\/strong> because of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Sony had huge success with the first\u00a0Venom<\/em>, and they\u2019re really hoping lightning will strike twice with\u00a0Morbius<\/em>, another Spider-Man-adjacent film.\u00a0Daniel Espinosa<\/strong> directs\u00a0Jared Leto<\/strong>, Matt Smith<\/strong>, Adria Arjona<\/strong>, Jared Harris<\/strong>, Al Madrigal<\/strong>, and Tyrese Gibson<\/strong> in this story of Michael Morbius, a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease who \u201ctries a dangerous cure that afflicts him with a form of vampirism.\u201d This was set for\u00a0July 10, 2020, but moved to\u00a0March 19, 2021<\/strong> (guess why).<\/p>\n

And finally, we have\u00a0Uncharted<\/em>, a movie that has gone through app<\/a>roximately ten zillion different directors. Right now,\u00a0Venom<\/em> director\u00a0Ruben Fleischer<\/strong> is at the helm, with\u00a0Tom Holland<\/strong>, Mark Wahlberg<\/strong>, and Antonio Banderas<\/strong> attached to star. The film is meant to be a prequel to the popular game series, telling the origin stories of\u00a0Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, in case that\u2019s something you\u2019re interested in. It\u2019s currently slotted to open\u00a0July 16, 2021<\/strong>, and if you\u2019d like an idea of how many times this thing was pushed, just remember that the\u00a0original<\/em> release date Sony had planned was\u00a0June 10, 2016.<\/p>\n
