Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) on Sunday said the \u201ctangled web\u201d around Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who is facing criticism over his financial disclosures, \u201cjust gets worse.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis tangled web around Justice Clarence Thomas just gets worse and worse by the day. I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to come up next. I thought I\u2019d heard it all, but more disclosures about his activities \u2014 it just embarrasses me,\u201d Durbin said on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Thomas has come under scrutiny after<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/clarence-thomas-scotus-undisclosed-luxury-travel-gifts-crow\"> reporting from ProPublica<\/a> revealed that Texas billionaire Harlan Crow paid for Thomas to take part in various luxury vacations without the justice reporting them. Thomas said later that he was \u201cadvised\u201d that he did not need to disclose the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A subsequent ProPublica report determined that Thomas had also not disclosed a 2014 real estate deal he\u2019d made with the same Republican megadonor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A third ProPublica report found that Crow paid thousands of dollars in tuition to a private boarding school for Thomas\u2019s great-nephew. Federal ethics laws only require the justices to report gifts given to a \u201cdependent child,\u201d but the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of revolutions together has raised concern about Thomas and upped scrutiny on the court overall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is whether it embarrasses the Supreme Court and the chief justice,\u201d Durbin said on Sunday, adding that Chief Justice John Roberts \u201chas the power in his hands\u201d to make ethics reforms on the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n<p>Durbin said last week that his reaction to the latest ProPublica findings was a \u201ccombination of sadness and rage.\u201d The Senate Judiciary Committee, which Durbin chairs, held a hearing last week on ethics reforms for the court. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
