\n Keke Palmer is opening up about her experience in the music industry and the change she wants to see.<\/p>\n

\n While talking with People<\/em> magazine<\/a>, in an interview published online Friday, about her new album\u00a0Big Boss<\/em> and its self-written accompanying film, which follows her journey within the music industry, the Nope<\/em> actress said the #MeToo Movement \u201chasn\u2019t happ<\/a>ened in music, and it should.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cBad shit happens in all industries, obviously, but specifically entertainment,\u201d Palmer, who has been in Hollywood for more than two decades, added. \u201cWe know bad things happen in all of them, but it\u2019s almost like the acting world represents a union and the music industry represents non-union.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The #MeToo movement, which brings awareness to sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace, grew to prominence in\u00a02017 following multiple allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. He was later convicted in a New York and Los Angeles trial.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s happening in the actor world but eventually, it\u2019s going to come to a damn halt,\u201d the singer said. \u201cSomebody\u2019s going to get called out. Something\u2019s going to happen. At some point, we\u2019re going to come to some kind of understanding. With music, it\u2019s like everybody is being paid, and everybody\u2019s a crooked cop. So, it seems like nothing will ever really come to a head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When discussing her personal experiences in the industry, Palmer said she has learned to stand up for herself over time, but that the \u201csad thing is that you learn these things from being in bad situations. It almost feels like it\u2019s a coming-of-age story for a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cBeing a woman is like, \u2018Damn, the biggest mistake you can make is trusting somebody.\u2019 Damn, I just shouldn\u2019t have trusted someone?\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cI wish that there was more that we could do, but it seems like we can\u2019t even really expect for people to respect our boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When asked if she\u2019s ever considered moving away from the music industry, given all the setbacks, she said, \u201cYeah, all the time. All the time I\u2019ve thought about stepping away and somehow would find myself back again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
