{"id":574683,"date":"2023-05-15T17:39:11","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T14:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/e1-billion-tech-fund-launched-in-major-boost-for-dutch-startups\/"},"modified":"2023-05-15T17:39:11","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T14:39:11","slug":"e1-billion-tech-fund-launched-in-major-boost-for-dutch-startups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/e1-billion-tech-fund-launched-in-major-boost-for-dutch-startups\/","title":{"rendered":"#\u20ac1 billion tech fund launched in major boost for Dutch startups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image?fit=796%2C417&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2023%2F05%2Fnxtgen-hightech-dutch-tech.jpg&amp;signature=519d744ed549ef223b90287a646cdffd\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-main-content\">\n                            <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organs-on-chips, recyclable wind turbine blades, and robotic farmers \u2014 these are just some of the technologies earmarked for funding under a new growth programme <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved by the Dutch government last week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NXTGEN HIGHTECH will <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">invest<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u20ac1 billion over the next seven years<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in an effort to make the Netherlands Europe\u2019s leading high-tech cluster.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme is the initiative of prominent Dutch innovation accelerators including <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holland High Tech, TNO, and FME, along with a number of universities and regional development agencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the 260 participating companies are SMEs (190) and startups (70) that will use the funding to further develop and scale their solutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/3yishpx6ry?videoFoam=true&amp;autoPlay=true\" title=\"\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe urgency of new <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> applications is high and we need solutions now,\u201d Marc Hendrikse, board chairman of NXTGEN HIGHTECH, commented. \u201cThe strength lies in the breadth of the programme. It not only works on new applications and technologies but also on digitising factories and the supply chain,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the Netherlands is an international leader in ultra-precise high-tech equipment, this position is \u201cthreatened by political interests and growing competition from other continents,\u201d the organisation <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nxtgenhightech.nl\/nxtgen-hightech-officieel-van-start\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a press release. Furthermore, R&amp;D investments are significantly lower than in other knowledge-based countries, costing growth, it added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an effort to cement the country\u2019s place at the top of European high-tech, the programme will invest<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across six core areas: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">agrifood, biomedical production technology, energy, composites, laser-satellite communication, and semiconductors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the agrifood domain, selected companies include those that use smart solutions, sensor technology, and robotics to improve the efficiency of farming, a sector that struggles with labour shortages and soaring costs. One of these startups <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bioscope.nl\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BioScope<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which helps farmers find abnormalities in their crops using data gathered from drones and satellites.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among other startups already selected by the programme is Hydraloop, which has developed a smart water-saving device for homes. The list also includes Lionvolt, a Eindhoven University of Technology spin-off developing 3D solid-state batteries that charge extremely quickly, and Single Quantum, which is developing superconducting single-photon detectors \u2014 crucial components in optical imaging and telecommunication systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By 2030, NXTGEN HIGHTECH aims to have developed a fully certified system for operating factories autonomously, in order to boost the productivity of the Dutch manufacturing industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s more, the programme hopes to boost the country\u2019s share of semiconductor production using the expertise of its members, which include the likes of chip giant and Europe\u2019s most valuable tech firm ASML.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing all of this together, say the partners, is education. In collaboration with universities and colleges, the programme looks to embed the Dutch \u2018systems engineering\u2019 approach in the education system by 2030.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Systems engineering analyses complex systems, like cars or batteries, to find more efficient ways of operating them.
