{"id":575199,"date":"2023-05-19T17:18:53","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T14:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/georgia-prosecutor-clears-decks-for-possible-trump-charges\/"},"modified":"2023-05-19T17:18:53","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T14:18:53","slug":"georgia-prosecutor-clears-decks-for-possible-trump-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/georgia-prosecutor-clears-decks-for-possible-trump-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"#Georgia prosecutor clears decks for possible Trump charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/WillisFani.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) asked judges in the county not to schedule trials and in-person hearings in roughly the first half of August, a signal she may bring charges against former President Trump during that time.<\/p>\n<p>Willis also indicated about 70 percent of her staff will work remotely on various days in August, according to a letter sent on Thursday to local judges, law enforcement officials and elected officials.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI respectfully request that judges not schedule trials and in person hearings during the weeks beginning Monday, August 7 and Monday, August 14,\u201d Willis wrote. \u201cIf judges schedule in person hearings during the post-conference days when my office will be working partially remote, senior leadership will handle those proceedings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also noted that few in-person proceedings will be held the week of July 31 because most judges will be attending the state\u2019s annual judicial conference.<\/p>\n<p>Willis gave no reason for the request, but she did conclude the letter by thanking the recipients for their assistance in keeping the county\u2019s judicial complex \u201csafe during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The district attorney has been probing whether Trump or his allies violated the law in their efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, including a call Trump made\u00a0 to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) in which he asked Raffensperger to \u201cfind 11,780 votes,\u201d the number needed to overturn now-President Biden\u2019s victory in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Willis has previously indicated she will announce any indictments between July 11 and September 1, which would add to Trump\u2019s legal woes as he campaigns to return to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>But Trump\u2019s team has downplayed his involvement in the probe as potential charges loom, noting he has not <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared before a grand jury in the case and casting Willis\u2019s investigation as a witch hunt.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Other figures in Trump\u2019s orbit, including former personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and 16 Republicans who were part of the Trump campaign\u2019s false elector scheme, also have been identified as targets.<\/p>\n<p>In recent court filings, Willis indicated she had offered immunity deals to some of those involved in the scheme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
