\n In the love story no one \u2014 not even the couple \u2014 saw coming, Kid Rock, 49, and Loretta Lynn, 88, wed over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The exchange of \u201cI do\u201d was reportedly in jest, making the marriage no less bizarre.<\/p>\n

It all started at the vow renewal of the \u201cCoal Miner\u2019s Daughter\u201d legend\u2019s son, Ernest Lynn, with his wife, Crystal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was beautiful and everything it should be,\u201d Lynn wrote on Instagram. \u201cMarriage isn\u2019t always easy \u2014 heck it\u2019s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I\u2019m so proud of them and wish them years of happ<\/a>iness.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the nuptials took a twist when the \u201cBawitdaba\u201d singer, whose given name is Robert James Ritchie, appeared at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings got crazy then \u2014 my boy @kidrock was there and we\u2019ve always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he\u2019s taken now!\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2018 CMT Artist of a Lifetime recipient never remarried after her husband, Oliver \u201cDoolittle\u201d Lynn, died in 1996 after a marriage of 48 years. For his part, the artist also apparently known as Bobby Shazam wed Pamela Anderson in 2006, then divorced in 2007.<\/p>\n

Her granddaughter Tayla also shared the news<\/a> on social media<\/a>, referring to the affair as a \u201chillbilly soir\u00e9e.\u201d She described how the sham marriage came to pass.<\/p>\n

In fact, Kid had been there to officiate the vows for his \u201cbestie\u201d Ernest Lynn.<\/p>\n

\u201cBob (Kid Rock) was about to sing a song when BAM a preacher walks out on stage \u2026 They turn the lights to Kid and Memaw,\u201d she recounted on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow you must understand how close Kid and Memaw have gotten. Like they adore each other. They joke around all the time about getting married and saying to heck with the rest of em,\u201d she explained, adding that Ernest, her father, had organized the whole prank, and invited an additional officiant.<\/p>\n

\u201cMemaw and Kid both become giddy. Like school kids. They were so caught off guard but both so happy. They played along. (Cause obv it\u2019s a joke),\u201d she recalled, adding that a friend even had a veil ready for the \u201cYou Ain\u2019t Woman Enough\u201d singer.<\/p>\n
