\n Billy Joel has revealed that his Madison Square Garden residency is coming to a close next year after 10 years.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m kind of flabbergasted that it lasted as long as it did. My team tells me that we could continue to sell tickets, but ten years, 150 shows \u2013 all right already!\u201d the Grammy-winning singer said in a statement. \u201cI do remember the first time we played Madison Square Garden, it was the pinnacle of my career. I thought, \u2018My God, I\u2019m headlining Madison Square Garden.\u2019 Everybody in the world knows when you play The Garden, it\u2019s not just New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n He also expressed his app<\/a>reciation for fans in his statement, saying, \u201cI want to thank them for coming to our shows for this long. It\u2019s hard to end, even at 150 lifetime shows. I just want to thank everyone for the wonderful thing that\u2019s happened here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The \u201cPiano Man\u201d singer performed his first show at Madison Square Garden in December 1978. Then in 2006, he set his first record at the venue for \u201cmost consecutive performances by any artist\u201d with 12 shows.<\/p>\n

\n In 2013, Joel was named the venue\u2019s first-ever music franchise, and then the following year he began his recording-breaking run. During his residency, he broke several more records, including his own, for \u201cmost consecutive performances by any artist\u201d with 13 shows in 2015, and \u201cmost lifetime performances by any artist\u201d later that year with his 65th\u00a0lifetime show. Banners hang in The Garden\u2019s rafters to commemorate the historic moments.<\/p>\n

\n Joel\u2019s final ten shows at Madison Square Garden<\/a> will run from October 2023 to July 2024.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
